T20 World Cup: Just a few days before the start of the all-important T20 World Cup 2024, Netherlands have been blown away with a couple of injuries to their frontline players. Fred Klaassen and Daniel Doram have been ruled out of the tournament giving a grave setback to the Dutch side even before the start of the World Cup.

As the replacements, Kyle Klein and Saqib Zulfiqar have been roped in by the Netherlands team for the coveted event scheduled to be held in the West Indies and the USA, starting June 1.

While Fred Klaassen complained of the symptoms of a stress fracture, which relates to his previous injury, Daniel Doram will miss the T20 World Cup 2024 owing to a broken hand.

Notably, Kyle Klein, who was the sole reserve member in the side, walked straight into the squad following the injury to the aforementioned players. Klein made his international debut in February this year and has the experience of just four international games, of which two were the T20I outings. The right-arm pacer returned with a solitary wicket in his 2 T20I games so far.

Saqib Zulfiqar, on the other hand, is making a comeback to the shortest format side for the Netherlands after a hiatus of good five years. He last played a T20I game in 2019. However, he has been plying his trade in the ODI side for the Netherlands all this while.

The all-rounder has the experience of 6 T20I games, in which he returned with 2 wickets and 34 runs.

As a part of their T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up, the Netherlands are currently involved in a tri-series against Ireland and Scotland. In the three fixtures held so far, the Netherlands have managed to clinch a solitary win and two losses. Their only win came against Scotland, while the losses were inflicted by Ireland and Scotland in the next couple of matches.

The Dutch will take on Sri Lanka and Canada in their two warm-up matches before the T20 World Cup 2024. Their first warm-up fixtures will be held on May 28 in Florida, the second will be played in Dallas on May 31st.
