<p>The Women T20 World Cup is being played for its ninth edition, as the UAE turned hosts for the iconic ICC event in women?s cricket. Bangladesh, who were the initial hosts, later moved the tournament to the UAE due to the political unrest in the country. <br> <br>After weeks of group-stage nurturing, the likes of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and West Indies women made it to the semi-finals of the competition. Likes of Indian women and England women were eliminated in their course to the knockouts. <br> <br>Afterwards, South African women created history by breaking two records with a single semi-final win, as they broke their record of defeating Australian women for the first time in the history of the tournament. Also, this broke the Aussie Women?s winning streak after 15 years in the competition. </p>

<p><br>Now, in the second semi-final today at Sharjah, which featured New Zealand women alongside West Indies women, the Kiwi women have advanced to the finals with an 8-run victory over Windies women. </p>

<p><br>Both these two sides have advanced into the semi-finals before, as they have played the finals as well, just like the last final of the T20 World Cup was featured between Australia Women and South Africa Women. <br> <br>However, this time around both these teams in the semis have never won the T20 World Cup, and either team winning would see a new team to have won the World Cup, as the world witnesses a new champion. </p>

<p>New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bat first on the track, as Suzie Bates, the highest T20 World Cup run scorer, came into bat alongside debutant Plimmer. <br> <br>The opening stand seemed to be great for New Zealand before the experienced Windies campaigner who turned around retirement to feature in the last probable World Cup left the Blackcap women baffled with her 4-fer. <br> <br>New Zealand Women could only post a total of 128 runs, which did not seem like a very huge total for the West Indies, who chased down the big score against England before entering the semis. <br> <br>West Indies Women were very close to entering the finals for another time, while likes of class players <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayley_Matthews">Hayley Matthews</a> and Stafanie Taylor could not gather more runs, as Dottin once again started to fill off the match with the bat as she smashed a 33-run striking at 150. NZ?s Wonderwomen, Amelia Kerr once again struck with Dottin?s wicket. <br><br>Bates picked the final wicket of the game for New Zealand as they entered the finals; either team winning would create the record in the history of the tournament.</p>

<p><span>Mumbai Indians defeated UP Warriors by 6 wickets. With this, the UP team is on the verge of being eliminated from the Women's Premier League (Women's Premier League 2025). The UP Warriors team scored 150 runs in this match while batting first. In response, Mumbai Indians won the match with 9 balls to spare. The biggest contribution to the victory for Mumbai was made by Hayley Matthews, who scored 68 runs and took 2 wickets in bowling.</span></p>
<p><span>During the hallway break, the bat positions of the two teams were comparable. UP was in a great position because the openers were playing well, but after Mumbai made the breakthrough, they fell apart quickly and lost seven wickets in ten overs, adding only 51 runs. Mumbai, on the other hand, lost Amelia Kerr soon after, but Hayley Matthews and Natalie Sciver-Brunt stabilized the ship by scoring 92 runs and all but ending the match. Mumbai did lose a few wickets, but they always had a chance to win.</span></p>
<p><span>When it came to the bowling department, UP was under pressure all game. To be fair, it was a bad day for their bowlers, who failed to carry out the strategy effectively and handed in a lot of freebies. Despite being under pressure as well, Mumbai rallied in the second half of the first innings to force UP to settle for a par score. </span></p>
<h2><span>Mumbai Indians close to playoffs</span></h2>
<p><span>MI now have 8 points after 4 wins in 6 matches and this team has come to second place in the points table. So far only Delhi Capitals have qualified for the playoffs, which is currently at the top with 10 points. After this, Mumbai still has 2 matches left, by winning any one of those matches, they will also secure a place in the playoffs. If this happens, then this will be the third consecutive time for the franchise when they will reach the playoffs.</span></p>
<h2><span>These are the heroes of Mumbai's victory</span></h2>
<p><span>First of all, Amelia Kerr laid the foundation for the victory of the Mumbai Indians. She took 5 wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs. However, Hayley Matthews contributed with both bat and ball. She took 2 wickets in bowling and played an important innings of 68 runs in batting. During this innings, Matthews hit 8 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt also shone in batting for MI, who scored 37 runs in the middle overs. In the last overs, Amanjot Kaur scored 12 runs and Yastika Bhatia scored 10 runs to ensure Mumbai's victory.</span></p>
