India vs Australia Test series: Former Sri Lanka captain and veteran batsman Mahela Jayawardene expects India and Australia test series will an exciting series. India have claimed victories in both home and away contests in the last three series for the Border-Gavaskar trophy, but Jayawardene has a different opinion. Since Australia haven't won a Test series in India since 2004, Jayawardena predicts Pat Cummins' team will lift the Border-Gavaskar Trophy this year.

?I think it's always going to be a great series. I think Indian conditions and how the Australian batsmen tackle that, they do have a really good bowling unit and how do the Indian batsmen tackle that ? it depends on how each team starts the series and who's got that momentum. But it will be fascinating," Jayawardene said in ICC Review.



?It's difficult to predict, but being a Sri Lankan, I?m hoping that Australia can go all the way. Probably a 2-1 win for Australia, but it's going to be a tough one.?



Australia and India are now in first and second place on the MRF Tyres ICC Men's Test Rankings, as well as in the top two places on the ICC World Test Championship standings, and they are in a strong position to go to the final in June.



Making a remark on Shubman Gill, Jayawardene said ?He's been very good, he's technically very sound and he's a good player of pace. That'll keep him in good stead against that Australian attack, but it's always going to be tough and it will be a very good series. He is in great form at the moment and if he converts that into red-ball cricket and has that tempo, maturity, and understanding of the situations and conditions, he?d be a great asset at the top of the line-up for India. He does give them those good starts at a good tempo to put opposition bowling attacks under pressure."

"I knew AUS were in for a nightmare," Ponting?s prediction on IND star came true in Nagpur: India defeated Australia in the opening test of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 at Nagpur. The pitch and Ravichandran Ashwin were the two factors that the current Australian team was concerned about going into the Nagpur match. All of the Australian players were so concerned about Ashwin that they took a duplicate of Ashwin to practice sessions, but Ravindra Jadeja unexpectedly appeared out of the syllabus.



India confined Australia to 177 runs in the first innings, and Ravindra Jadeja claimed a fifer during the inning. Jadeja returned to cricket after being absent for more than five months due to an injury, and soon thereafter, he claimed his eleventh career five-wicket haul.



When Jadeja returned to first-class cricket in the last week of January, Ponting predicted in a statement for the ICC Review that he would turn into Australia's "nightmare." In Saurashtra's Ranji Trophy encounter against Tamil Nadu, Jadeja picked up eight wickets, seven of which came in the second innings.

 However, Day 3 was when rain was not the major affecting factor, as due to the wet outfield play was prohibited, however, a sunny day began the game on Day 4. Bangladesh began with 107/3 which was their score at the end of Day 1, as Bumrah and Ashwin picked early wickets which reduced the Bangladeshi cricketers to a timid score of 233, despite Mominul Haque?s stunning 100, as he remained not out till the end of the innings. Clarke is aware about the threat which Kohli poses and he knows that he's hungry to score runs and if he gets sledged then he can use that to bring back his lost confidence and enthusiasm. The 36-year-old has a habit of fighting back in a strong manner whenever he gets sledged by his opponents.

The third Test-Match of the currently ongoing 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy five-match Teat-Series between fierce-rivals India and Australia is slated to be played at the iconic Gabba Cricket Stadium of Brisbane. The Gabba Test-Match will start from Saturday, 14th of December onwards.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the jersey controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian governing body refused to write 'Pakistan' on their kits for the tournament. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is scheduled to begin on 19th February. The preparations for the tournament are on, and the ICC and the PCB are taking every step possible to make sure that everything is right on track. 
However, a controversy recently erupted after BCCI refused to write Pakistan on their jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, every participating nation, as per the ICC policy, has to write the name of the host nation below the logo of the tournament on their jersey. 
After BCCI refused to sport it, Pakistan Cricket Board officials made a strong statement, saying that BCCI is trying to use politics in every matter. He, however, mentioned that they are hopeful that ICC will support them and India will be asked to write the name of the jersey on their kits for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following this, BCCI also reacted, and the insider from the governing body said that since they are playing in Dubai, it isn't mandatory for them to wear the 'Pakistan written jersey'. The BCCI also stressed that they didn't write Pakistan's name on the podium of the Trophy tours as well. 
Amid all this, ICC has come up with a strong response for the BCCI. An ICC official mentioned that it is the responsibility of the host nation to add the tournament logo to their jersey. He stated: 
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports, as quoted by NDTV. 
Not only this, it is learned that the ICC also warned BCCI that they would be taking strict action if they didn't wear the Pakistan-written jersey during the tournament.
