India vs Australia Test series: Former Sri Lanka captain and veteran batsman Mahela Jayawardene expects India and Australia test series will an exciting series. India have claimed victories in both home and away contests in the last three series for the Border-Gavaskar trophy, but Jayawardene has a different opinion. Since Australia haven't won a Test series in India since 2004, Jayawardena predicts Pat Cummins' team will lift the Border-Gavaskar Trophy this year.

?I think it's always going to be a great series. I think Indian conditions and how the Australian batsmen tackle that, they do have a really good bowling unit and how do the Indian batsmen tackle that ? it depends on how each team starts the series and who's got that momentum. But it will be fascinating," Jayawardene said in ICC Review.



?It's difficult to predict, but being a Sri Lankan, I?m hoping that Australia can go all the way. Probably a 2-1 win for Australia, but it's going to be a tough one.?



Australia and India are now in first and second place on the MRF Tyres ICC Men's Test Rankings, as well as in the top two places on the ICC World Test Championship standings, and they are in a strong position to go to the final in June.



Making a remark on Shubman Gill, Jayawardene said ?He's been very good, he's technically very sound and he's a good player of pace. That'll keep him in good stead against that Australian attack, but it's always going to be tough and it will be a very good series. He is in great form at the moment and if he converts that into red-ball cricket and has that tempo, maturity, and understanding of the situations and conditions, he?d be a great asset at the top of the line-up for India. He does give them those good starts at a good tempo to put opposition bowling attacks under pressure."

"I knew AUS were in for a nightmare," Ponting?s prediction on IND star came true in Nagpur: India defeated Australia in the opening test of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 at Nagpur. The pitch and Ravichandran Ashwin were the two factors that the current Australian team was concerned about going into the Nagpur match. All of the Australian players were so concerned about Ashwin that they took a duplicate of Ashwin to practice sessions, but Ravindra Jadeja unexpectedly appeared out of the syllabus.



India confined Australia to 177 runs in the first innings, and Ravindra Jadeja claimed a fifer during the inning. Jadeja returned to cricket after being absent for more than five months due to an injury, and soon thereafter, he claimed his eleventh career five-wicket haul.



When Jadeja returned to first-class cricket in the last week of January, Ponting predicted in a statement for the ICC Review that he would turn into Australia's "nightmare." In Saurashtra's Ranji Trophy encounter against Tamil Nadu, Jadeja picked up eight wickets, seven of which came in the second innings.

 However, Day 3 was when rain was not the major affecting factor, as due to the wet outfield play was prohibited, however, a sunny day began the game on Day 4. Bangladesh began with 107/3 which was their score at the end of Day 1, as Bumrah and Ashwin picked early wickets which reduced the Bangladeshi cricketers to a timid score of 233, despite Mominul Haque?s stunning 100, as he remained not out till the end of the innings. BGT: Australia's legendary former captain Michael Clarke has given valuable advice to the Kangaroos ahead of the forthcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024 (BGT). He has advised the Aussie players to refrain from sledging Indian Cricket Team's elite batter Virat Kohli. The 43-year-old has listed several reasons for not sledging the legendary Indian batter.



Virat has been struggling to perform well in recent times and he has been going through a lean-patch with the bat. Despite his struggles, the Indian fans are anticipating Virat to perform in a brilliant manner in the forthcoming five-match Test Series. In the last four years, Virat has managed to amass just 1,838 runs in 34 five-day format games at a poor average of 31.68, which includes two hundreds and nine fifties.

Clarke is aware about the threat which Kohli poses and he knows that he's hungry to score runs and if he gets sledged then he can use that to bring back his lost confidence and enthusiasm. The 36-year-old has a habit of fighting back in a strong manner whenever he gets sledged by his opponents.

The 1st Test-Match of the 2024 Border Gavaskar Trophy will be played in the city of Perth from Friday, 22nd of November onwards and Virat Kohli is busy in preparing himself for the highly anticipated series.



The Australian media had previously reported that the 36-year-old is struggling with fitness related issues and has gone for x-ray scans. But, in the intra-squad match-simulation of the Men in Blue, Virat looked completely fit and he wasn't witnessed facing any kind of issues while playing.



The former Indian skipper got dismissed after scoring 15 runs in the intra-squad game, but then he straight away went to the nets and practiced for a duration of 30 minutes. Following this, he faced the short pitched deliveries of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna in a brave manner. The third Test-Match of the currently ongoing 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy five-match Teat-Series between fierce-rivals India and Australia is slated to be played at the iconic Gabba Cricket Stadium of Brisbane. The Gabba Test-Match will start from Saturday, 14th of December onwards. 
Earlier, the Indian Cricket Team had faced a crushing defeat in the 2nd Test-Match of the series which was played in the city of Adelaide.
