Indian legendary cricketer Shikhar Dhawan retired from all forms of cricket as he announced his international and domestic retirement last Saturday. On Monday, he announced his inclusion in the Legends League Cricket. Shikhar Dhawan has had an immensely successful career playing for over a decade for the Men in Blue. He has featured in over 269 matches for India, having represented them across all three formats. Dhawan has scored 12286 international runs playing for India, with most of his runs coming in the ODI format, for which he was considered a maestro alongside Rohit Sharma. Most often referred to as India?s Mr. ICC, Shikhar Dhawan was known to be India?s most dependable performer in the ICC tournaments, which included the likes of World Cups, the Champions Trophy, and the T20 World Cup. Dhawan was India?s highest scorer with the bat in the Champions Trophy 2013 that India won under <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Dhoni">MS Dhoni</a>.

 Domestically as well, IPL has been a memorable competition for the left-handed batsman. Having started his career with the Delhi Daredevils in 2008, he next moved to Mumbai Indians in 2009, while he played first for the Deccan Chargers and then the franchise that replaced them, Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he gathered immense success batting alongside the Aussie veteran David Warner.

After sustaining injuries in the last season, he has decided to opt out of the IPL.

 In his vast career, Dhawan has scored 6769 runs, the second highest in the IPL only behind Virat Kohli. Now, having retired from the IPL and Indian cricket, he is available to feature across other global competitions. He will be back in action with the Legends Cricket League, which is scheduled to be played in September.

After Shikhar Dhawan, another big Indian name, Dinesh Karthik, joins the Legends League Cricket.

 Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from cricket on Saturday, and since then he has been in the buzz and often received huge appreciation for his contributions to Indian cricket. Dhawan has been a great slave to Indian cricket, as he has played 200+ matches across formats for India, having scored 12000+ runs for the Men in Blue. Dhawan was often known as Mr.ICC because of his amazing records in ICC tournaments, as he won the Wolden bat twice in the Champions Trophies in 2013 and 2017, while also emerging as India?s highest scorer in the World Cup 2015. Shikhar Dhawan has also been part of the IPL since its first season in 2008, as he emerged playing for Delhi Daredevils, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai_Indians">Mumbai Indians</a>, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and lastly the Punjab Kings. Now having retired from both international and domestic cricket, Dhawan can participate in other global tournaments like the Legends League Cricket.

 A month ago, DK, who is renowned as a world-class finisher, became the first Indian cricketer to be drafted in for the SA20, as he was about to make his debut for the Paarl Royals. Why MS Dhoni will be unable to participate in Legends League Cricket (Explained): Indian Cricket Team?s legendary skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from International-Cricket on the 15th of August, 2020, but he continues to ply his trade for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL.



While MSD hasn't given any clue about his future in the IPL yet, some news are reportedly saying that the 43-year-old Wicketkeeper Batsman could end up playing yet another season of the IPL for the Chennai-based franchise.

The former Indian skipper relinquished his CSK captaincy duties before the beginning of IPL 2024 and handed over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad.



The veteran only plays in the IPL and fans across the country plead to watch him play on the Cricket field. He hasn't featured in Domestic-Cricket matches since 2017.



There's a reason why Dhoni cannot participate in the ongoing edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) or any other Cricket league across the world.



In this article, we will take a look at the reason why MSD will be unable to participate in the Legends League Cricket.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be unable to take part in the Legends-League Cricket</h2>



According to the rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), a player has to completely retire from Indian-Cricket to participate in the Foreign Cricket Leagues across the world.



Once a player decides to leave Indian-Cricket and participates in any other Foreign Cricket league, then that player won't be able to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) anymore.



In the case of MS Dhoni, he has retired from International-Cricket but he still plies his trade for five-time winners Chennai Super Kings. This is the main reason why the veteran cannot participate in the Legends League Cricket.



Once MSD takes part in the LLC, he won't get the opportunity to make his comeback to India?s cash-rich T20 league.



India?s legendary Cricketers such as Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Saurav Ganguly and many more have returned to play in Cricket leagues across the globe after retiring completely from Indian-Cricket.



MSD can do something similar and can opt to participate in any of the Cricket leagues if wishes to.
