Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi has given a massive statement regarding the country's Men?s National Cricket Team?s captain. He stated that the decision regarding the skipper will be taken by the selectors and coaching department.



"I will let the coaching staff and selectors make a decision regarding the captaincy duties of the team," Mohsin said during Lahore?s Gaddafi Stadium construction-project.



According to some news reports, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has become the leading contender for handling the leadership duties of the Green Shirts in all three formats of the game.



?A workshop involving the coaching staff and the selectors will be organised on the 22nd of September and we will be listening to everyone's feedback and suggestions and accordingly the decision will be taken,? Naqvi added.

?I know that if the team fails to perform well and if they commit mistakes on the field, then it falls on me. If there are any player selection related mistakes or if the coach does something wrong, it will reflect on me,? the 45 year old added



On the other hand, the PCB chairman also gave an official confirmation regarding the venues of the upcoming test series between Pakistan and England after certain news reports stated that one test match will be shifted to either Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

?The England test matches will be played in Pakistan and will not get shifted out of our homeland. Rawalpindi?s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and Multan?s Multan International Cricket Stadium will be final venues for the three-match series.



?We (PCB) are in constant touch with the England Cricket Board (ECB) and there are no issues related to the venues,? Naqvi said.

Babar Azam relinquishes Pakistan's white-ball captaincy duties for the 2nd time: Pakistan Men?s National Cricket Team?s star batsman, Babar Azam, on Wednesday, announced his decision to step-down as the white-ball skipper of the National-Team.



The 29-year-old shared the announcement on his social-media handles, expressing his desire to play as a regular player.



In a heartfelt-note, Babar wrote, ?I have important news to share with all of you today. I have decided to step-down as the skipper of the Pakistan men's National cricket team, effective as of last month when I notified the PCB and the Team-Management.



"It has been a pleasure to lead this team, but it's time for me to step-down and focus on my career as a regular player."



"By stepping down as the captain of Pakistan, I will gain more clarity going forward and focus more energy on my playing-career and personal-growth."



"I'm thankful for your continuous backing and trust in me," he said, thanking the fans for their unwavering support. To me, your happiness has meant the world."



?I am proud of our team's success and I am excited to contribute in the best-possible manner as a player for the National-Team.

Azam?s decision follows a chaotic period of the Green Shirts leadership. Previously, the 29-year-old had resigned as the full-time skipper of the Shaheens during the tenure of Zaka Ashraf as the chairman of PCB.

At that point of time, Shaheen Shah Afridi was handed over the captaincy reins of the T20 International team while Shan Masood was selected as the captain of the Test-Team. Following the Green Shirts? disappointing performance in the shortest format of the game under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Azam was re-appointed as the limited-overs skipper ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 under Mohsin Naqvi, the current chairman of PCB.



Azam?s return as a captain was not able to produce positive results for Pakistan. Under his captaincy, the Shaheens won the T20 International series versus Ireland by a margin of 2-1 but against tougher opposition teams, they struggled a lot, drawing the five-match T20 International series versus a second-string New Zealand team 2-2 and a 0-2 series defeat versus England ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.



Pakistan?s failure to qualify for the Super-8 stage of the competition, following their shocking defeat versus co-hosts United States of America and fierce-rivals India, made matters even more worse for the 29-year-old.

The iconic National Cricket Stadium of Karachi is all set and ready to hosts the matches of ICC's Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) personally oversaw the renovation progress and thanks to the hardwork &amp; dedication of the workers, the Stadium renovation has been completed in a span of 4 months. 
The official inauguration of the Cricket Stadium in Karachi is slated to be held tomorrow i.e 11th of February in the evening period and a grand opening ceremony has been planned by the PCB. Famous Pakistani singers Shafqat Amanat Ali &amp; Sahir Ali Bagga will be seen performing in the ceremony and they will be entertaining the crowd with their singing talent.
An eye catching fireworks display along with a light show are also planned to feature in the event. Fans can enter the stadium free of cost in order to attend the grand opening ceremony.

"The renovation work at the National Stadium of Karachi commenced on the 28th of September last year and thanks to the blessings of God, the project got completed by the 31st of January. The Pavillion building of the stadium was demolished completely and and it has been rebuilt with a fresh look and state of the art facilities. Also, new sitting chairs have been installed in the stands," Mohsin Naqvi said. 
"Mordern scoreboards, new LED lights and new grills have also been added while the fences across the stadium have been removed in order to ensure a better viewing experience for the supporters. Renovation work on the hospitality boxes have been conductrd and a new pedestrian walking bridge along with a brand new ring-road have also be built," he added.

The PCB chairman also praised the hard work done by the workers involved in renovating the stadium, highlighting the efforts of the PCB team and Frontier Works Organization (FWO). He acknowledged their vigorous efforts in completing the renovation work before the commencement of the Champions Trophy.

"We have added top notch facilities for both the players and the fans. For the Champions Trophy participating teams, we will be giving our best to provide the best possible facilities to the players," he said.

The inauguration of the stadium comes days after Pakistan's prime minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore which underwent massive renovations as well. The PCB had commenced the major upgradation project of the two venues last year owing to the forthcoming 2025 Champions Trophy whose matches are slated to be played at these two stadiums along with Rawalpindi's Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. 
The Gaddafi Stadium of Karachi is slated to play host to it's very first Champions Trophy clash on the 22nd of February as Ashes Rivals Australia &amp; England will be taking on each other. 
The marquee ICC event of this year, comprising of 15 encounters, is set to commence from the 19th of February onwards with the all-important Final taking place on the 9th of March. All the 8 participating teams are divided into two groups of four sides each, with Group-A comprising of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan &amp; New Zealand, while Group-B consists of England, Afghanistan, South Africa &amp; Australia. 
Pakistan will be hosting a total of 10 Champions Trophy 2025 matches, while four games, including all three of Team India's group-stage fixtures and the first semi-final will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium of Dubai. 
The trophy-deciding clash of the eight team tournament is scheduled to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore but if the Men in Blue successfully qualify for the final, then it will be played in Dubai. 
Furthermore, the Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore) and the National Cricket Stadium (Karachi) are also currently playing hosts to the Triangular series matches between New Zealand, South Africa &amp; Pakistan. The bilateral event commenced on the 8th of February and it culminates on 14th February.

Pakistan National Cricket Team has been ordered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to win against India at any cost in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The match between two arch-rivals is set to take place on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

However, their practice session was interrupted was PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. He categorically told players to win  "at any cost" to silence critics. He was seen having a chat with captain Mohammad Rizwan and head coach Aqeeb Javed and was involved in a lengthy conversation.

The reports in PTI claimed that Mohsin Naqvi told players to give their best to "silence their critics, including himself." The PCB Chairman was seen having long chat with even pacers in Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, passing valuable inputs. 
The IND vs PAK clash will be extremely important for the Pakistan National Cricket Team. They lost the first game of the tournament against New Zealand, and the match against arch-rivals will be a knockout game for them, if they win, they will stay in the hunt and make the road difficult for India. 
Mohsin Naqvi also addressed the media, saying that it will be a great game and he is confident that his team will win. He explained: 
"It would be a great game, and our team is fully prepared, and in my opinion, they are in form. We are with our team, whether they win or lose." 
India, on the other hand, started the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy on high. The Rohit Sharma-led side beat Bangladesh in their opening game and would be keen to win their second game. The win in the match against Pakistan will almost ensure them a place in the semi-final.
