English pacer Ollie Robinson suspended following his racist and sexist tweets.



England and Sussex pacer Ollie Robinson has been suspended from all forms of cricket and will miss the second test between England and New Zealand following his historic controversial tweets, said the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).



The 27-years old cricketer made his impressive test debut at Lord?s in the game against New Zealand that ended in a draw. He led the English pace attack at home of cricket and stripped off 4 wickets in the first innings while 3 in the second for the hosts before scoring a useful 42 with the bat in the first innings.



However, the cricketer?s on-field brilliance was masked out by his controversial sexist and racist tweets that re-surfaced on the internet which he posted when he was a teenager.&nbsp;



"England and Sussex bowler Ollie Robinson has been suspended from all international cricket pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation following historic tweets he posted in 2012 and 2013," said an ECB statement after the end of the first test.

"He will not be available for selection for the LV= Insurance second Test against New Zealand starting at Edgbaston on Thursday 10 June. Robinson will leave the England camp immediately and return to his county," it added.



Robinson found himself in trouble as his old tweets, dating back to 2012 and 2013, caused a huge stir as soon as he got his test cap. The speedster?s tweets suggested that Muslim?s are linked to terrorism and also made derogatory remarks on the people of Asian heritage.

He issued an apology after the stumps on Day 1 and said that he is ?ashamed? and ?embarrassed? with his historic comments on a very special day of his life.



&nbsp;"On the biggest day of my career so far, I am embarrassed by the racist and sexist tweets that I posted over eight years ago, which have today become public. I want to make it clear that I'm not racist and I'm not sexist.



"I deeply regret my actions, and I am ashamed of making such remarks. I would like to unreservedly apologise to anyone I have offended, my teammates and the game as a whole in what has been a day of action and awareness in combatting discrimination from our sport."

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson came in support of Ollie Robinson, who was earlier today suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) following his derogatory and racist comments which he made over a decade ago.



Boris Johnson?s spokesperson said that the PM is supportive of the culture secretary?s view that the English cricket governing body should reconsider their decision.



Oliver Dowden, the UK government?s secretary for culture, sports, digital and media, said that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has gone too over the top in penalising the 27-years old pacer Ollie Robinson.



?Ollie Robinson?s tweets were offensive and wrong,? Mr Dowden wrote on Twitter.



?They are also a decade old and written by a teenager. The teenager is now a man and has rightly apologised. The ECB has gone over the top by suspending him and should think again.?



Robinson made an impressive start to his Test career with his brilliant performances against New Zealand in the first game of the ongoing series. The pacer picked up four and three wickets respectively in the two innings for England and also contributed with 42 runs with the bat.



?The Prime Minister is supportive of the comments from Oliver Dowden that he made via tweet this morning,? said Boris Johnson?s spokesperson on Monday.

The tweets which particularly targeted Muslims and the people of Asian Heritage re-surfaced last Wednesday, the first day of the England vs New Zealand opening test game, soon after Ollie Robinson was handed his test cap.



After his tweets, dating back to 2012 and 2013, caused a huge stir among the netizens, Robinson issued his unreserved apology after the stumps on Day 1.



The 27-years old said he is ?embarrassed? and ?ashamed? on the most important day of his life.



?I want to make it clear that I?m not racist and I?m not sexist,? Robinson had said.



?I deeply regret my actions, and I am ashamed of making such remarks. I was thoughtless and irresponsible, and regardless of my state of mind at the time, my actions were inexcusable. Since that period, I have matured as a person and fully regret the tweets.?

English 27-years old pacer Ollie Robinson has decided to take a short break from cricket following the twitter controversy.



The pacer was suspended from all forms of international cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) due to his historic tweets which resurfaced on the internet. The ECB is investigating the issue which caused the stir and for the time being, the cricket will not feature in international cricket games.



Robinson?s old tweets, dating back to 2012 and 2013 resurfaced on the internet as soon as he was handed his test cap on June 2. He made derogatory comments on Muslims and people of Asian Heritage that put him into the troubled water.



After the stumps on Day 1 between England and New Zealand, Robinson issued his unreserved apology however it was not enough for his shameful act.

Robinson has got huge support after the controversy brewed. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom came in support of the cricketer and said that ECB should reconsider its decision.

The next big destination for cricket fans is the upcoming mega event. It is the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to take place in Pakistan and the UAE. We are just five weeks away from the ninth edition, as the tournament will kick off on January 19 in Karachi.
The top 8 teams will be taking part in the tournament and will be divided into two groups of four teams each. But with a little over one month left in the start of the mega event, the drama continues to take new episodes.
Firstly, it was the tensions between the Indian Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board that forced the ICC to go for a hybrid model where India will play all their matches in Dubai after the Indian Board refused to send their team to Pakistan, citing security concerns.
<h3>Pakistan to lose the hosting rights of ICC Champions Trophy 2025?</h3>
As a result, the ICC added the UAE as the venue for Indian matches in Dubai, which will be a neutral venue. But it looks like the clouds of uncertainty have loomed once again over the hosting rights of the events. As per the latest media reports, it has been learned that the construction work at the three shortlisted venues in Pakistan is nowhere near done. There are 35 left in the start of the tournament, and the renovation work, which began in August last year, has not been completed.
The deadline to complete the renovation work was December 31, which has passed. According to the Times of India, the stadiums are still far away from the completion of the work. As per the TOI's source, some parts of the stadium are still under construction, and the finishing work will take a bit longer. The work to be done related to fencing and placing of floodlights and some other detailing work is still pending.
The three venues to host matches are National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This came to notice when the PCB decided to shift the coming ODI tri-series in Pakistan, involving New Zealand and South Africa, from Multan to Lahore and Karachi.
However, the PCB has declined all such rumours and said that the work will be done as planned. Notably, the ICC will schedule an inspection, and a team will be sent to check the arrangements of all three venues. PCB will hand over all three venues to ICC on February 12. But if the shortlisted stadiums don't meet the expectations by then, the ICC can shift the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to the UAE.

KL Rahul was recently dropped from the Indian ODI XI during the series against Sri Lanka. As per the reports, it is learned that Rishabh Pant will be the first-choice keeper-batter in the team, while Sanju Samson might get the nod as the second keeper in the team.
