On Tuesday, 9th April, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced their official 17 member squad for the upcoming New Zealand T20i series. The Pakistan vs New Zealand five match T20i series is set to commence from 18th April.



The Men in Green will host New Zealand for a five match T20 International Series from 18th April. The first three T20i?s will be played at Rawalpindi?s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on 18th, 20th and 21st April. The two sides will then travel to the Gaddafi Stadium of Lahore for the remaining two games.



Babar Azam has once again been reappointed as the captain of Pakistan in all the white ball formats and is set to lead the Shaheens in the T20i series against New Zealand and he will be handling the leadership duties in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup as well.



Fast Bowler Mohammad Amir has made his much awaited return to the National squad of Pakistan after a gap of four years. He last played for the Shaheens way back in August 2020.&nbsp;



Along with Amir, spin bowling All - Rounder Imad Wasim who came out of retirement recently has been picked in the squad for the New Zealand series as well.



Fast bowler Haris Rauf, who was recently reinstated in the central contract list of Pakistan Cricket, is not a part of the squad for the New Zealand series as he has not recovered completely from the shoulder injury which he suffered during PSL 2024.

?Our decision of including Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim in the squad was a pretty easy one as they made themselves available for selection for the T20i series against New Zealand. The decision to include them was made in consideration of Mohammad Nawaz?s poor form and Haris Rauf?s injury. Imad and Amir are proven match winners and they have helped Pakistan Cricket to achieve success in the past and we have full faith that they will give their best to help our team achieve our goals,? But the vice captain of the Men in Green hasn't been announced yet and the PCB is expected to announce the Vice Captain of the Shaheens in the next few days.&nbsp;



According to some news reports of the local Pakistani media, spin bowling All - Rounder Shadab Khan and Wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan are the front runners in the race to become the white ball Vice Captain of the Shaheens.



The decision of who will handle the vice captaincy duties ahead of the home five match T20 International series against New Zealand is expected to be announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board post the conclusion of the Ramadan Eid holidays.



The Men in Green will be playing five T20 International games against New Zealand from 18th April onwards. The first three T20 International matches will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium of Rawalpindi on 18th, 20th and 21st April. The action will then move to Lahore?s Gaddafi Stadium for the final two games of the series.

NZ vs PAK 2025 T20 series: The wait is finally over the as the first T20i of the five-match series between Pakistan (PAK) and New Zealand (NZ) commenced in Christchurch. The first match is being played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Ōtautahi. Both sides suffered heartbreaks in the Champions Trophy 2025 as the Blackcaps lost to India in the final while Pakistan, got knocked out in the group stage phase itself. 
This ongoing Pakistan's tour of New Zealand 2025 consists of five T20 International matches and three ODI games between 15th of March to the 5th of April. 
Many New Zealand players are focussing on IPL Cricket following the conclusion of the Champions Trophy so the New Zealand selectors have selected a team on youngsters and seven playera from the Champions Trophy squad who didn't get IPL contracts. 
Pakistan, on the other hand, are fielding a completely new look side after the selectors opted to drop seniors Babar Azam &amp; Mohammad Rizwan from the squad. Salman Ali Agha has been named as the skipper for this series. 
<h2>Kyle Jamieson runs riot with the ball in the first T20I</h2>
The Agha Salman-led Pakistan got off to a horrific start in the first T20 International versus New Zealand as they lost opener Mohammad Haris for a duck in the very first over of the match to seamer Kyle Jamieson. Then, immediately after his departure, the Shaheens suffered another blow as Hasan Nawaz perished for a duck as his side got reduced to 0-2 in the second over. 
In the following over, the 30-year-old right arm seamer sent Irfan Khan back to the dugout for a duck before dismissing Shadab Khan for three runs. This came after the Michael Bracewell-led team won the toss and elected to field first.

Chasing a small total of 91 runs, the duo of Finn Allen and Tim Seifert displayed an exceptional batting performance right from the beginning, stitching a 53-run opening partnership in the powerplay, showcasing their batting brilliance. 
Seifert was on his way towards yet another fifty in the T20 International format but he fell short, as he was dismised by Abrar Ahmed after playing a good innings of 44 runs in 29 balls, leaving the Blackcaps at the score of 53-1 in 5.5 overs. 
Tim Robinson, batting at number three, then joined Finn Allen in the middle and kept the pressure away from his partner, as the two saw out the chase and helped their team win the match in the 11th over, giving the home side a 1-0 lead in the series. Allen played an unbeaten knock of 29 runs, while his partner Robinson scored 18 runs. 
For Pakistan, leg spinner Abrar Ahmed picked up the only wicket in the match, while the other bowlers failed to create any kind of impact with the ball. 
After being put into bat first by New Zealand skipper Michael Bracewell, the Green Shirts struggled to get going versus the highly disciplined bowling attack of New Zealand and were bowled out for a mere score of 91 runs, with 30-year-old seamer Kyle Jamieson leading the charge with three wickets in the powerplay. 
The innings of the Salman Ali Agha-led side got off to a horrendous start, as they lost three wickets in quick succession with just one run on the board. Jamieson sent Muhammad Haris back to the dugout for a duck, while Irfan Khan also got out off the bowling of tbe 30-year-old after managing to score just a single run. 
Hasan Nawaz, the debutant also failed to impress as he fell cheaply, out for a two ball duck off the bowling of pacer Jacob Duffy, which put a lot of pressure on the Shaheens. 
Shadab Khan, the vice-captain, walked out to bat at number five and even he failed to stabilize the innings of his team, as he perished after scoring just three runs in six balls as Jamieson made him his third victim. 
The Green Shirts were struggling at 11-4 in 4.4 overs and the duo of Khushdil Shah &amp; captain Salman Agha retaliated with a partnership of 46 runs for the fifth wicket, aiming to steady the sinking ship. However, their efforts went in vain, as leg spinner Ish Sodhi accounted for the wicket of the Pakistani skipper, leaving the visitors at 57-5 in 11.1 overs. 
Khushdil, who showcased an aggressive intent with the bat, was the only batter to play a decent knock, scoring 32 runs with the assistance of three sixes. However, his time in the middle was cut short in the 13th over of the match as Duffy struck once again, reducing the Green Shirts to a score of 64-6.
The Salman Ali Agha-led side kept losing wickets in quick succession, leg spinner Ish Sodhi accounted for the wicket of another Pakistani debutant, Abdul Samad (7 runs in 12 balls), leaving the visitors reeling at the score of 80-7 in 15.3 overs. 
With Pakistan struggling at 85-8, Zakary Foulkes delivered them their eighth blow by dismissing Jahandad Khan, who scored 17 runs. The side was at 89-9 after 18.1 overs as Shaheen Afridi struggled to get further runs before being removed by Duffy for just one.
As Pakistan completed their first innings, Abrar Ahmed was the final player to fall, falling just nine runs short of 100. Jacob Duffy took the most wickets with four, followed by Ish Sodhi with two, Kyle Jamieson with three, and Zakary Foulkes with one.

PAK vs NZ 2nd T20: The Pakistan National Cricket Team, under the captaincy of Salman Ali Agha, will be aiming to bounce back in a strong manner and level the ongoing five-match T20 series as they square off versus New Zealand in the second T20I on Tuesday, 18th of March at the University Oval. 
The Green Shirts suffered a difficult start to the five-match series, falling to a nine-wicket defeat in the opening encounter at Christchurch on Sunday. 
The first match exposed the vulnerabilities of the Shaheens in the batting unit, as newcomers Abdul Samad and Hasan Nawaz struggled to perform well, scoring seven and zero runs respectively. 
Apart from spin bowling all-round Khushdil Shah, who played a 32-run knock, the batting lineup of Pakistan showed little to no resistance. Similarly, their bowling attack didn't live up to expectations either, which might lead to several changes in the bowling department. 
After being put into bat first, the visitors crumbled undrer pressure created by New Zealand's pace bowling duo of Kyle Jamison (3 wickets) and Jacob Duffy (4 wickets) as the former reduced them to 1-3 within the first 2.2 overs of the opening match. 
The situation became even more worse as Shadab Khan, the vice-captain, got dismissed after scoring just three runs, leaving his side struggling at 11-4 in 5 overs. It was looking highly likely that the 2022 T20 World Cup runners-up were heading to their lowest ever score in the fomat but then, Khushdil Shah and Captain Salman Agha began to retaliate. 
They got involved in a partnership of 46 runs for the fifth wicket but that partnership didn't last long as the Pakistani captain perished in the 12th over, while Khushdil got out in the very next over. Salman managed to score 18 runs in 20 balls while the Southpaw, on the other hand, was the top scorer for the visiting team with his knock of 32 runs in 30 deliveries, with the help of three sixes. 
The collapse of the Salman Ali Agha-led outfit didn't stop and eventually, they got all out for an embarrassing score of 91 runs in 18.4 overs with eight ball to spare. 
Michael Bracewell's New Zealand, responded by easily chasing down the 92-run mark, accomplishing it with 59 balls remaining and lost only one wicket.
The Pakistani team management will have to make some serious changes if they want their team to have any chances of making a comeback in the series.

Pakistan vs New Zealand: Michael Bracewell's New Zealand secured a comfortable five-wicket win over Pakistan in a rain-affected second T20i at the University Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday and this win helped them take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing a good total of 136 runs, the Kiwis got their innings off to an explosive start, with opening batters Finn Allen &amp; Tim Seifert stitching a 66-run stand for the opening wicket.
The latter was more aggressive, finding boundaries at will in all parts of the ground as he scored 45 runs in 22 balls before falling to Mohammad Ali. Following Seifert's departure, his partner Finn Allen carried on with this onslaught, adding 21 runs for the second wicket with Mark Chapman but, his entertaining inning of 38 runs in 16 balls came to an end as Jahandad Khan got the better of him, leaving the Michael Bracewell-led side at 87-2 in 6.6 overs.
Southpaw Mark Chapman failed to create any kind of impact with the bat, getting dimissed after scoring just a single run off the bowling of spinner Khushdil Shah. Pacer Haris Rauf then struck in the ninth over, removing all-rounder James Neesham for 14 runs, as the hosts lost their fourth wicket with 97 runs on the board to their name in 8.3 overs.
The duo of Mitch Hay and Daryl Mitchell then built a good partnership of 35 runs for the fifth wicket, bringing their side within touching distance of victory. However, seamer Rauf sent the latter back to the dugout for 14 runs, leaving the Kiwis at 132-5 in 13 overs.
Captain Bracewell then helped his team seal the win as he hit the winning runs alongside Mitch Hay, who remained not out on 21 runs, winning the game by five wickets and 11 deliveries to spare.
For the Shaheens, seamer Haris Rauf dismissed two Kiwi batters, while the trio of Khushdil Shah, Jahandad Khan and Mohammad Ali took one wicket each.
Talking about the batting performance of the Agha Salman-led outfit, they managed to post a decent score of 135 runs in a rain-affected second T20I of the five-match series versus New Zealand on Tuesday, 18th of March at the University Oval in Dunedin, thanks to the brilliant efforts of vice-captain Shadab Khan and skipper Salman Ali Agha. The match in Dunedin was reduced to 15 overs per side due to constant rain interruptions.
