India vs England pink ball test: The president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly was delighted to announce that the tickets for the pink ball Test between India and England have been sold out. He also added that the decision on the entry of the spectators in the upcoming Indian Premier League will be taken shortly.



The third test between India and England will be played at newly refurbished Motera Stadium (Sardar Patel Stadium) Ahmedabad. This will be the first international game hosted by the stadium. The game will begin on 24th February.



BCCI has decided to allow at least 50 per-cent crowd to the stadium which has the capacity of 110,000 spectators at one go.&nbsp;



?Ahmedabad is completely sold out. Happy to see normalcy back,? Ganguly told Star Sports in an interview.



?I spoke to Jay Shah and he?s very keen on these Test matches. Just for him also cricket is coming back to Ahmedabad after six-seven years because they built the new stadium,? former India captain said.



India will host its second Day/Night test game at Ahmedabad between India and England while the first Day/Night fixture was hosted in Kolkata?s Eden Garden back in 2019 against Bangladesh.



The BCCI and IPL GC are planning to allow spectators back to IPL which is slated to take place from the second week of April.



?This year is going to be big as well because of what it is. We?ll see whether we can get the crowd back into the IPL, it?s a decision we?ll have to take very shortly. But it?s going to be another great tournament,? Ganguly said.



Ganguly added that BCCI will conduct one pink ball test in every home series.&nbsp;



?Absolutely. One pink-ball Test in a series is ideal. Every generation goes through changes, the pink ball is one of the main changes for Test match cricket, and to keep Test match cricket alive."

India vs England: England pacers are dying to use Pink Ball says Mark Wood.



India vs England: Mark Wood who is recently added to the test side for the last two test games against India on Friday has said that England pacers are dying to use the pink ball. Both England and India will play their third game at Motera Stadium which will be a Day/Night fixture. This will also embark the opening match of the stadium in an International format.



The four-game test series is levelled at 1-1 and the third game will begin on 24th February.



Test games under the lights always assist the seamers and England will be happy to use their pacers on the track. The last time India played their Day/Night test at Eden Gardens, the seamers picked all 20 wickets in the game against Bangladesh.



"We've been bowling with them in the nets -- they have swung quite a bit and they've lasted longer, which was interesting to see," Wood told a conference call.



"With the ball, as soon as it moves, every one of the bowlers from the past couple of months is dying to get it in their hand."



England bowlers have the ability to use the pink ball to its fullest and exploit the conditions. Even if Mark Wood does not get a chance to play the game, the visitors have plenty of options to use.



James Anderson who didn?t play the second game will certainly return in the third test match and he can swing the ball easily. Along with Anderson, Stuart Broad and Jofra Archer can also swing the ball under the lights.



"As soon as the ball moves we know how good our seam bowlers can be," said Wood.



"We've got good depth there, good skills and two of the best ever (Anderson and Broad)," added the 31-year-old Durham quick.

Mark Wood also explained the reason behind his last-minute withdraw from IPL 2021 Auction.



Wood has played just 18 test games in his six years long test career till now. He has sustained an ankle injury which restricted him to play more.&nbsp;



Wood said, he wants to spend time with his family and it was a hard decision for him. He said the money IPL gives can be life-changing for anyone.



Six weeks IPL and two more week on top of that due to quarantine and all of that stuff, I can spend quality time with my family. Wood also want to focus on England?s national fixtures and make himself more consistent and prominent in bowling.

<h2>Pink Ball Test Pitch:</h2>



The pitches used in the Day/Night test have a 6mm grass cover but the convention is not followed here in Motera. The surface will aid spinners more than the pacers. And India can take good advantage of the surface used.



?I don?t see anything changing in the pitch from what we played in the second Test. It?s more or less going to be on the same page. It?s going to be turning as well and we are preparing according to that,? Rohit said.

?When we tour outside India, the pitches are not according to our needs. They make pitches on the basis of what suits the home team best. So why will we lose that advantage while playing in India? That is why the test games are called a home game and away games. If you have any issues with the pitches then go and ask ICC to make a regulation on that.?

India vs England 3rd Test: Senior pacer Umesh Yadav has been added to the Indian squad for the last two test matches against England. Yadav on Sunday appeared for the fitness test at the newly refurbished Motera Stadium and cleared it following which the pacer was included in the squad.



His replacement Shardul Thakur was released from the test team earlier to play the ongoing domestic 50 over tournament (Vijay Hazare Trophy) for his home team. Thakur was drafted on to the side in the Australian tour where he performed tremendously in the penultimate test.



On the same tour, seamer Umesh Yadav sustained a calf muscle injury due to which he was ruled out of the whole tour.



India and England will play their penultimate test which will be the pink ball test starting on 24th February. The event will be hosted in Motera Stadium.

With Umesh Yadav getting fit for the test matches, India might look to play with three seamers as it will be a pink ball test. Although it has been hinted that the surface will be rank turner, India will certainly come up with two spinners only unlike the first and second test.



Kuldeep Yadav could be dropped from the side making way for Umesh Yadav. Mohammad Siraj will also rest as Jaspirt Bimrah will join the playing 11 after the rest in the second game. While the third pacer will be Ishant Sharma.

Sardar Patel Stadium named after Indian PM Narendra Modi.



Narendra Modi Stadium: Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday inaugurated the refurbished Sardar Patel Stadium and the stadium has been renamed the Narendra Modi Stadium. The ground that was widely known as Moetra Stadium is named after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was also formerly the president of the Gujrat Cricket Association. While the name of the ground has been renamed Narendra Modi Stadium but the complex will remain as planned Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave in the city.



Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, BCCI secretary Jay Shah also made their presence in the stadium.&nbsp;



Narendra Modi Stadium will host its first international fixture on Wednesday as India vs England 3rd (Day/Night) Test.



<h2>The stadium was conceptualized by Narendra Modi:</h2>



President Ram Nath Kovind in his inaugural speech said, ?The ground was planned and conceptualized by Narendra Modi and he was also the president of the Gujrat Cricket Association at that time.?



"This stadium is an example of eco-friendly development," he added.



?The Narendra Modi Stadium can accommodate as many as 1,32,000 fans at a time. This will be the world's biggest sports stadium," Home Minister Amit Shah said at the event.



"Coupled with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, a sports complex will also be built-in Naranpura. These three will be equipped to host any international sports event," he said.



?Ahmedabad will be known as the Sports City of India and Olympics games can also be hosted here at&nbsp; Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave,? said Amit Shah.



Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said it is a proud moment not only for Cricket but for the whole country. Apart from being the world largest stadium, the ground is equipped with world-class technologies and facilities.



Narendra Modi Stadium earlier hosted the knockout games of the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The ground will be further hosting back to back seven international fixtures against England.



The last two test games and the five games T20I series against England will be held in the Narendra Modi Ground.

Indian women to play their first ever pink ball test soon in Australia: Jay Shah.



The Indian women?s cricket team will feature in their first-ever pink ball (day/night) test match soon when they tour Australia later this year, Jay Shah informed the fans.



Jay Shah, who is the secretary of the BCCI, announced the news on his Twitter handle and stated that the move is part of the BCCI?s commitment to take the women?s cricket game one step forward each day.

After a long haul of seven years, the Indian women?s cricket team will once again don the test kits against England, starting June 16 and another one in the subsequent Australia tour later in 2021. The women?s contingent is also scheduled to play T20I and ODI series down under.



The last test match Indian women played was way back in 2014 against England in Wormsley Park.



The exact dates of the tours and the games are not revealed but most probably it is going to be after September.

The first ever pink-ball Test-Match in the history of Cricket was played in 2015. Trans-Trasman rivals New Zealand and Australia took part in that match and it was a highly fierce and exciting contest. The Kangaroos ended up finishing on the winning side in that encounter by a margin of three-wickets. 
A few days ago, the Mighty Australians crushed Rohit Sharma-led India by a margin of 10 wickets in the Adelaide Pink-ball Test-Match, which was the Kangaroos's 13th victory in Day &amp; Night Test contests. So far, Australia have suffered just a single defeat in the longest format of the game matches played with the pink-ball, which came versus the West Indies. The big question which arises is why is it so difficult to defeat the Kangaroos in Pink-ball Test-Matches?

The base of any side is strengthened only when players are given high number of chances in Domestic Cricket in a structural-way. One of the main reasons behind the Aussies's gold performance in Pink-ball tests is that Cricket Australia, the cricket governing body of the nation conducts domestic-cricket matches with the Pink-ball. This simply means that in Australia, youngsters who have the tendency of playing the Pink-ball well are being groomed from the Domestic-Cricket level itself. Be it a batter or a bowler, all the players are getting exposed to the Pink-ball in a really good way. 
25-year-old Nathan Mcsweeney is good example of this. He played a good knock of 39 runs in the first inning of the Adelaide Test-Match versus the Indians and stood firmly at the crease and controlled one end beautifully. This is the same player who scored a total of 762 runs with the bat in 10 contests of the 2023-24 season of Sheffield Shield, which the Domestic First-class tournament of the nation.
<h2>Australia has taken part in the highest number of Pink-Ball Tests</h2>
2023 WTC winners Australia are the only team to have taken part in the highest number of Test contests played with the Pink-Ball. They have taken part in a total of 13 contests so far, out of which they have secured victories in 12 games and have won all the Adelaide Pink-Ball fixtures. England have also played 7 Pink-Ball matches so far alongside the likes of West Indies and India. South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka have also managed to gain valuable experience of playing Day &amp; Night Tests.
