The Mumbai Indians and Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan's unwillingness to play domestic first class cricket and instead prioritize the IPL may compel the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to mandate that Indian team players must participate in a certain number of Ranji Trophy matches to be eligible to play in the IPL and be included in the T20 league's auction pool.



According to some news reports, the top officials of the BCCI have directed Ishan Kishan to play in Jharkhand's final Ranji Trophy group match against Rajasthan starting this Friday, no matter what.



Kishan's absence from the games after citing mental exhaustion as the reason for taking a break from the test series against South Africa has not been well received by the top officials of the BCCI. The situation became even more problematic when the 25 year old was seen in a video practicing with the new captain of the Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya, while his state team, Jharkhand, is struggling near the bottom of the Ranji Trophy?s group A standings.



There is widespread agreement that a firm policy must be followed so that a group of young cricketers do not make playing only in T20 leagues like the IPL a regular practice. ?The people in charge at the BCCI know that some players are not interested in any first-class cricket. If they are dropped from the Indian national team, they might at most play a few games in the Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament and then not show up for their state side during the multi-day cricket season, a high-ranking BCCI figure told PTI anonymously.

Indian Cricketer Kedar Jadhav has announced his retirement from all formats of the game with immediate effect. He last featured for the Indian Cricket Team back in 2020 in the 2nd ODI game of India's tour of New Zealand in Auckland. Jadhav flourished under the captaincy of former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, providing the Men in Blue with consistent finishing touches in the back end of an inning with the bat and troubled batters with his handy unorthodox off spin bowling.&nbsp;



The 39 year old's last competitive match was in February of this year where he featured for Maharashtra in a Ranji Trophy match in Pune. He looked in good touch with the bat as he amassed 379 runs with the bat in five games including a fifty and a century in his team's 2023-24 Ranji Trophy campaign.&nbsp;



In International Cricket, Jadhav scored 1389 runs in 73 ODI matches, including six half centuries and two centuries. In T20 internationals, he scored 122 runs in nine matches. With the ball, he dismissed batters 27 times at an economy - rate of 5.15 in One Day Cricket.?

Kedar Jadhav also played 193 Indian Premier League matches and was able to score 1196 runs. He was a part of CSK's 2018 title winning campaign and played for the Delhi Capitals in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In IPL 2011, he played for the now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala. His last IPL game was in 2023 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.&nbsp;

Team India?s fast-bowling-all-rounder Hardik Pandya is anticipated to make himself available for selection for Baroda?s Domestic-Cricket Season of 2024-2025.



According to a top source of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA), the chances of Junior Pandya making a return to red-ball Cricket are high, keeping in mind the home Test-Series versus New Zealand and the upcoming tour of Australia later in December this year.



Recently, Hardik posted some pictures on his social media account where he was seen practising with the red-ball. The 30-year-old is also likely to play limited-overs Domestic Cricket for Baroda.



Junior Pandya hasn't participated in First-class-Cricket for Baroda since their Ranji Trophy encounter versus Mumbai way back in 2018.

The 30-year-old last played a Test-match for the Men in Blue way back in 2018 versus England at the Rose Bowl Cricket Stadium of Southampton.



Having participated in 11 Test matches where he has a best score of 108 runs versus Sri Lanka and a five-wicket haul versus England at Nottingham's Trent Bridge Cricket Ground,&nbsp;Pandya has done well in the limited- chances he has been given.



In 2023, right before the Indian Cricket Team?s WTC final against Australia, Hardik said that it wouldn't be fair for him to be a part of the Men in Blue?s playing 11 after not playing Test Cricket since 2018.



The 30-year-old talked about the hard work he needed to do to make a comeback in the longest format of the game.



?I haven't done anything deserving to take part in the WTC-Final versus Australia. I am not even a part of one percent. So, me coming directly into the playing 11 and replacing a well deserved player won't be fair and it doesn't sound good either,? Hardik said.



?If I want to play Test-matches for the nation, I will grind, work hard and earn my rightful place. Thus, due to this particular reason, I will not be taking part in the final (WTC) or future bilateral test-series till I don't feel that I deserve to play in a fair manner,? he added.



The junior Pandya doesn't have a lot of time available with him to prepare as Baroda?s first Ranji Trophy 2024-2025 match is versus last season's winners Mumbai on the 11th of October.



The India vs New Zealand test series kicks off from the 16th of October onwards while the Border-Gavaskar series will begin from 22nd November.

India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is all set to be appointed as the captain of the Delhi team for the upcoming game of the Ranji Trophy against Saurashtra. As per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that Delhi and District Cricket Association will be announcing the squad for the match on 17th January. 
The second round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 is all set to begin on 23rd January, and Delhi will be taking on Saurashtra. In the last few weeks, BCCI has taken several strong steps, with one being asking the players to take part in domestic cricket. 
Several Indian players, including Rishabh Pant, are all set to play the Ranji Trophy to get some rhythm and form under their belt ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is because batters looked in torrid form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which India lost by the margin of 3-1. 
Rishabh Pant also didn't have the kind of outing he would've wanted as he managed just 255 runs across nine innings, with an average of 28.33. He managed just one half-century, which came during the last game of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

But with him returning to the Ranji Trophy, it will be a massive step, and if he gets some runs under his belt, it will be a massive boost for the team. The official of DDCA confirmed that he will be leading the team and said: 
"A selection meeting will happen in the afternoon tomorrow and Rishabh Pant will likely be the skipper for the away game versus Saurashtra." He told the Times of India. 
Rishabh Pant being set to be announced as the captain of the team comes at the time when India is in a need of a skipper. The keeper-batter's name is being discussed as the potential vice-captain with Jasprit Bumrah being given the full-time leadership role. 
If Delhi performs well under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, then it surely will send a message to selectors. It remains to be seen how the batter performs in the format.

It has been a dream return for senior Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, as he bagged a fifer on this return to Ranji Cricket. Jadeja had this impressive show in the ongoing Ranji Trophy game from Elite Group D Round 6 match between Saurashtra and Delhi at Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot.
With this, Jadeja has also completed 200 wickets for his state team, Saurashtra, and has now a total of 201 wickets. Jadeja dismissed Sanat Sangwan, Yash Dhull, Ayush Badoni, Navdeep Saini, and Harsh Tyagi to complete his 35th first-class fifer in his career. He finished with 5/66 in 17.4 overs to help his team get an upperhand in the game.
Jadeja's fifer helped Saurashtra bowl out Delhi for just 188 runs in 49.4 overs. Captain Ayush Badoni scored most runs for Delhi, who got out after scoring 60 off 78 balls. Notably, the last two wickets for the all-rounder came off the consecutive deliveries. That means Jadeja will be on a hat-trick as he comes to bowl in the second inning.

There have been a lot of talk about the Indian national stars playing in the Ranji. Now, with his fifer, he became the fourth bowler to complete 200 or more wickets for Saurashtra. It was his 136th FC game, and he has taken his wicket-tally to 547 with 7466 runs, including 13 centuries and 36 half-centuries. However, it wasn't a great return for Rohit Sharma and other Indian stars. Rohit, who was playing his first domestic match since 2016, made only three off 19 balls in the ongoing game against Jammu and Kashmir.
Yashavi Jaiswal also got out cheaply for an 8-ball four. Shreyas Iyer (11 off 7) and Shivam Dube (0 off 3) also failed with the bat. Mumbai got all out for 120 runs. On the other hand, Shubman Gill, who is leading Punjab, also scored only four off 8. Punjab got all out for just 55 runs against Karnataka.

Shardul Thakur who has always been considered as India’s star all-rounder delivered an excellent performance against Jammu and Kashmir. He rescued his team from a dire situation as Mumbai’s top order collapsed. Shardul took a sharp shot at Indian selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar and their decision to overlook him despite proven performances and fitness. He also pointed out that players with demonstrated quality should be given more opportunities rather than getting sidelined.

Mumbai was struggling at 47/7 when Shardul Thakur came in and hit 51 runs off 57 balls which included five boundaries and two sixes, helping Mumbai reach a score of 120. While his performance was the highlight of the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, in his first Ranji appearance in a decade, had a disappointing return as he was dismissed for three runs.

Mumbai faced early setbacks but Thakur and Tanush Kotian’s 63-run partnership brought stability to Mumbai’s innings.
