Ross is of the Samoan Origin. He has been educated at Wairarapa College&nbsp;and&nbsp;Palmerston North Boys High School. Earlier his focus was on hockey and rugby, two of the primary sports in New Zealand but later it shifted to cricket. Ross burst on the scene when he hit 80 runs off 30 balls in the 2009/2010 HRV Cup final. He made his T20 debut in 2006, his ODI debut in 2006, and his test debut in 2007. Taylor was also picked by RCB at the beginning of his career in 2009 in the IPL.&nbsp;

Ross Taylor scored his maiden ODI century against Sri Lanka in 2006. His first test hundred came against England in Hamilton. It was an exquisite 120. The strong zone of Ross Taylor is the mid-wicket area. He used to feast on off-spin bowlers. He loved slamming them over mid-wicket. His favorite shorts could be his sweep and his hoick over mid-wicket to the spinners. Other notable performances off Ross include his 154 against England in Manchester, 290 against Australia at the WACA, 217 against West Indies in Otago, and 200 against Bangladesh in Hamilton. &nbsp;

Ross Taylor is the first player from the Samoan Community to represent New Zealand. In his autobiography titled ?Black and White,? he recalled a few instances of Racism regarding the same in the NZ team. ?I was always an anomaly?, is what he said. &nbsp;



He further referred to a few instances. "Cricket in New Zealand is a pretty white sport. For much of my career, I've been an anomaly, a brown face in a vanilla line-up. That has challenges, many of which aren't readily apparent to your teammates or the cricketing public. In many ways, dressing-room banter is the barometer. A teammate used to tell me, 'You're half a good guy, Ross, but which half is good? You don't know what I'm referring to. I was pretty sure I did", is what Ross had to say. ?



<h2>Mike Sandle and Mike Hesson Were Also Talked About in the Book:&nbsp;</h2>



He expressed his concern over these race-oriented comments in the dressing room which were often hidden under the name of ?Banter?. And he couldn?t raise a voice as he didn?t intend to be a spoilsport or face an eventual consequence. &nbsp;



In one incident Ross recalled how his wife Victoria got a call from Mike Sandle (Former NZ Manager and Coach) regarding the Samoan Sportspersons finding it difficult to manage money. And if Ross was struggling with the same too! &nbsp;

'My cleaner's Samoan,' he said. 'She's a lovely lady, hard-working, very trustworthy. All I could say was, 'Oh, cool.&nbsp;

With this, Kane also turned into only the fifth New Zealand batter after Stephen Fleming, Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, and Nathan Astle to have scored more than 7000 runs in the white-ball limited-overs format. With this, he also became New Zealand’s quickest batter to 7000 ODI runs, leaving behind Guptill comfortably by a huge margin of innings.
