The TATA IPL 2022 has not even started and the list of English players missing out has risen. Starting from Ben Stokes pulling out, then Jason Roy, Alex Hales, and now Mark Wood. The IPL franchises will be skeptical while picking English players in the TATA IPL. Mark Wood was going to be an integral part of the Lucknow Super Giants. Now the LSG team will have to look for a good replacement if the BCCI allows them to pick a player. Here is a look at the options:

Reece Topley can replace Mark Wood in TATA IPL:

Reece Topley, another English bowler can replace Mark Wood. Topley is a regular feature in the England team and has a lot of experience. If LSG pick Reece, there will again be a big question mark, whether the ECB allows him to play the IPL or not. Reece doesn?t have the express pace of Mark Wood but he is a complete T20 package. He is the one with off-cutters, yorkers, and slower balls. ?

Andrew Tye can Replace Mark Wood in TATA IPL:

Once a Purple Cap holder, Andrew Tye had gone unsold in the TATA IPL 2022 Mega Auction. It is a pity to see such a good bowler struggle to get a team. Tye has been in and out of the Australian national team as well. He again is a very amazing package. He has a variety of deliveries to bowl and a lot of experience. ?

Marchant De Lange:?

De Lange has previously played for MI and KKR. IMG SRC: Sportzpics

Marchant De Lange was a part of the Mumbai Indians back in 2016. Since then, no team has picked him. Marchant De Lange has made a comeback to the international cricketing circuit. De Lange has been playing freelance cricket everywhere. He has played for teams like Islamabad United, Dambulla Giants, Trent Rockets, and Somerset. De Lange has good knowledge of how the IPL works. He also gives some batting down the order. He can bat number 7 for any team. Marchant bowls at 135 kmph. He has the best figures of 3/34. ?

Dasun Shanaka can replace Mark Wood in TATA IPL 2022:

Dasun Shanaka can also be a good choice. Shanaka is a batting all-rounder. The thing is that the LSG lineup has Avesh Khan, Jason Holder, and Dushmantha Chameera. It is a contingent of good pacers. So, instead of picking a full-fledged pacer, they can go for an all-rounder. Dasun Shanaka showed what he has to offer in the recently concluded Sri Lanka Tour of India. He bowls at 135 kmph which is more than enough if the other 3 bowlers bowl well. He has an average of 33. ?

Honorable Mentions:

  1. Sheldon Cottrell.?
  2. Scott Kuggeleijn.?
  3. Saqib Mahmood.?

Kane Richardson can replace Mark Wood:?

IMG SRC: SPortsRush.

Kane Richardson can be a very effective replacement. But again, as mentioned earlier, the teams will be skeptical about picking him up. Last year, he left the RCB squad in the middle of the tournament. However, his performance can certainly get a chance for him. He bowls at an average of 24.42. He has the best figure of 3/13 against Rising Pune SuperGiants.?
