Both players will enter the record books as soon as they score required number of runs. The special thing is that the records that these two are going to make will be happening for the first time.
Shubman Gill has a chance to surpass Hashim Amla
The Prince of Indian Cricket Shubman Gill performed in a brilliant manner in the recently concluded three-match One Day International series versus England as his batting contributions helped his team white wash their opponents by a margin of 3-0. He scored a total of 259 runs in three games with the assistance of two fifties & a centurycentury, making him the highest run getter in the series.
In 50 One Day International matches for the Men in Blue, the 25-year-old has scored a total of 2,587 runs at average of more than 60, including seven hundreds, a double century and 15 fifties. In the third One Day International versus England, Gill achieved a record-breaking feat, becoming the quickest to score 2,500 runs in the format, surpassing the previous record holder Hashim Amla, who had achieved the feat in 53 innings.
The Prince of Indian Cricket now has a chance to break yet another record of Hashim Amla in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025. He requires just 413 runs to become the fastest batter in the history of the sport score 3,000 runs in One Day Cricket. Currently, South African legend Hashim Amla holds this record, who achieved this feat in 57 innings.
The 25-year-old Gill still has six innings left to surpass the South African legend. Given his current form, he can easily break this record during the Champions Trophy, where Team India are guaranteed to take part in atleast three matches, and if they reach the final, then they will participate in five games.
Shubman's excellent form with the bat in ODIs has seen him become the vice-captain of the Men in Blue in the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament. He's also being considered as a potential successor to Rohit Sharma as the next captain of Team India in One Day Cricket.

The legendary Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking a big world record in Champions Trophy. He has scored a total of 13,963 runs in 285 innings in ODI Cricket and he's just 37 runs away from becoming the fastest player to score 14,000 runs in the format. He has 15 innings left to break this record and in the match versus Bangladesh, the 36-year-old will have an excellent chance of doing exactly that.
Only two batters, Sachin Tendulkar & Kumar Sangakarra have reached the 14,000 run mark in the 50 over fomat. The Little Master achieved this feat in his 350th inning while the Sri Lankan legend took 378 innings to reach the milestone.
Another record which King Kohli will be eyeing is that of becoming the highest run getter for Team India in the Champions Trophy. He has scored 529 runs in 13 games in the tournament and needs just 173 runs to overtake Shikhar Dhawan (701 runs) and become the highest run scorer for the nation in the history of the tournament.
If the former Indian skipper manages to score 263 runs in the Champions Trophy, he will also create the record of scoring the most number of runs in the history of the tournament. Currently, the Universe Boss Chris Gayle has this record to his name having scored 791 runs in the tournament.
