Top 5 Most Expensive Cricketers of IPL 2022: Even before the wrap of the IPL 2021, which is scheduled in the UAE, the fans and supporters have started having discussions about the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL 2022 will be huge in many ways as several changes will be brought up by the officials to make the competition even more interesting and engaging.
As informed earlier, the Indian cricket board is convinced to induct two new franchises in the IPL 2022 to make the tournament a ten teams affair.
With the addition of the new franchises, the mega auction is synonymous and the shuffling of players will bring franchises to the forefront to break their banks and indulge in massive bidding wars.
Moreover, the total purse value for each franchise has been increased to INR 90 Crores, which will be spent by the teams on the purchase of cricketers in the auctions.
The existing franchisees will be entitled to a benefit of retaining four players before the mega auction 2022 either in the format of three Indian and one overseas or two Indian and as many overseas cricketers.
Apart from these retained cricketers, others will go under the hammer and a couple of them will fetch millions by putting teams into bidding wars.
In this article, we will take a look at the top 5 cricketers who fetch massive amounts for their services in the IPL 2022.
IPL 2022: Top 5 Most Expensive Cricketers of the IPL 2022 (Predicted):
5. Trent Boult:
The kiwi and Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer is likely to initiate a bidding war amongst the franchises in the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auctions. The New Zealand pacer has done all the things right to attract a good deal for himself in the upcoming times.
Playing for Mumbai Indians (MI), Boult has turned the tables multiple times and won matches. He was sensational in IPL 2020 with over 25 wickets in a season for MI and in the first half of the IPL 2021, the pacer has proved his mettle.
MI traded Boult from Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the IPL 2020 for INR 3.2 Crores. The pacer has justified his price tag and is likely to go beyond this in the coming years.

4. Glenn Maxwell:
This name needs no introduction in the shortest format of cricket. The Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is surely going to go bonkers ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions.
Although his previous IPL seasons didn't go well and that has raised some questions, his IPL 2021 assignment with RCB has been tremendous. Maxwell has taken up the role alongside Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers quite nicely and justifying his price tag.
The all-rounder has amassed 223 runs in seven games and six innings for RCB in the first half of the IPL 2021. He scored these runs with a strike rate of over 140.
Once Maxwell gets settled in the crease, there is no way for the opposition to stop him. He has shown that in the past in international cricket for Australia and a little glimpse of that has been shown in the IPL 2021.
3. Moeen Ali:
The English all-rounder Moeen Ali was at his dream run in phase one of the IPL 2021, which got suspended midway due to the covid pandemic. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be really satisfied with what they paid to Moeen Ali and what the cricketer has offered.
The all-rounder was bought by CSK in IPL 2021 auctions for INR 7 Crores after RCB dropped him from the lineup.
Ali was promoted to bat at number three for CSK and was given a licence to do what he does in slog overs. Not only did he manage to take on the opposition in the early overs but also provided resistance to the team due to early breakthroughs.
Moeen Ali plundered 206 runs in six matches for CSK, striking over 155.
Due to his shiny performance in the first half of the IPL 2021, the franchises with a weak top order or franchises that want to bolster their lower order can pick the services of Moeen Ali in mega auction 2022.

2. Suryakumar Yadav:
With the rules getting a little tweaked in terms of retention, Mumbai Indians (MI) is certain to lose their premier top-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav in the IPL 2022.
MI will have the obvious choice to retain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard in the IPL 2021 mega auction to retain which means Suryakumar Yadav will be left out from the side.
However, this does not mean that the franchise will not be able to purchase him back.
Suryakumar Yadav has been in the top brackets of run-scorers in the past couple of years. He has been the top performer for his franchise and is quite successful in the top order.
His quality services have proven to be a game-changer for Mumbai and the other franchises would also want to take his services in the upcoming seasons.
The cricketer has scored over 400 runs in each season he played for Mumbai Indians.
Owing to his brilliant batting skills, the franchises are surely going to push their limits to a whole new level to acquire the services of Suryakumar Yadav in the IPL 2022 Mega auctions.
IPL 2022: Top 5 Most Expensive Cricketers of the IPL 2022 (Predicted):?
1. Prithvi Shaw:
The Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw has proved his mettle over and over again in the last couple of years. The opener has been quite successful in recent times and is a bright future prospect.
Just like Mumbai Indians (MI), the retention limitations of Delhi Capitals (DC) will force the franchise to leave the player out in the auction table.
It will require one hell of a fight to acquire back the services of Prithvi Shaw unless you do not open millions.
Shaw after getting dropped from the Indian test team last year made an impactful comeback in the IPL 2021 with some blistering starts along with his DC partner Shikhar Dhawan.
The opener 308 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 166.48.
