In this article, we will take you through the names of top overseas players who won?t play in the IPL 2022 as they have pulled out of the league due to their own share of concerns.

Top overseas Players who won?t play in IPL 2022:

Mitchell Starc:

Australian premier pacer Mitchell Starc hasn?t featured in the Indian Premier League since the IPL 2015. Starc was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2015, but since then the pacer has always shown reluctance to take part in the lucrative tournament.

During the recently Ashes 2021-22, Mitchell Starc opened up that he is looking forward to playing in the IPL, however, the cricketer pulled out in a last-minute call to spend some time with his family.

Joe Root:

England?s Test skipper Joe Root was eying his IPL appearance in the fifteenth edition of the tournament, however, his team?s humiliating performance in the Ashes 2021-22 forced the skipper to focus on test cricket.

The cricketer earlier revealed that he was confirmed to take part in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, but to focus on England?s test side following the dismal performance, he has pulled out of the IPL.

Root has come under scrutiny after England?s loss in the Ashes. Though he played brilliantly with the willow, his captaincy hasn?t pleased many pundits, who have asked him to step down from the position.

Sam Curran:

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Sam Curran has opted out of the IPL 2022 owing to his shares of injuries. While playing in the second phase of the IPL 2021, Curran complained of some back issues.

The kiwi lanky all-rounder Kyle Jamieson has also stepped back from featuring in the IPL 2022 Mega auction.

Jamieson was part of the RCB squad in the IPL 2021. The all-rounder was bagged by RCB for a massive INR 15 Crores. It won?t be wrong to say that Jamieson failed to justify the price tag associated with him.

The New Zealand pacer wants to spend time with his family and work on his game during the IPL break. Hence, he will be missing the IPL 2022.

Chris Gayle:

Christopher Henry Gayle, the name that haunts several bowlers in the cricket field. Arguably one of the best T20 batters of all time, Chris Gayle is no longer looking to make his appearance in the biggest T20 extravaganza.

The Universe Boss has opted out of the IPL 2022. The proper reasons for his exclusions are not given, but the experts believe a decline in Gayle?s T20 form could be the predominant reason for his decision.

Ben Stokes:

Following the similar pattern which Joe Root followed, England ace all-rounder Ben Stokes has also closed his doors of featuring in the IPL 2022. Despite getting hefty contracts in the previous editions of the IPL, Ben Stokes has opted to not feature in the cash-rich IPL.

The reasoning for Stokes? decision is pretty simple. The cricketer wants to focus on his red-ball cricket, which hasn?t yielded fruitful results in the recent past. England lost the Ashes 2021-22 to Australia by a massive 0-4 margin.

Ben Stokes? performance in the all-important series was concerning as he couldn?t provide valuable support to his captain.

He along with Joe Root has decided to focus on rebuilding England?s test side following an upsetting show.

AB de Villiers:

And towards the end, the epitome of brilliance and flamboyance, AB de Villiers will also be missed in the IPL. The South African cricketer has taken all format retirement and will no longer be a part of the playing group of any team.

His decision came as a shocker for his fans. Following the completion of the IPL 2021, de Villiers announced his retirement.

The former RCB cricketer will be missed a lot. He has left a legacy behind and there is no one who can take that forward.
