The intensity is heating up in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy as the series is leveled at 1-1 with two test matches left to play. India are the current holder of the BGT trophy, having won it on the last four occasions. But they are under pressure in the ongoing series due to the poor batting form of the Indian cricket team.

Not just form, the sudden retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin also left India in shock. Ashwin announced his international retirement after the conclusion of the Gabba Test. With his retirement, India had one spot to fill in their squad for the last two tests.

That's when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a surprise addition. A 26-year-old uncapped all-rounder is all set to join the Indian team ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium.

IND vs AUS: India add Tanush Kotian to the squad ahead of Boxing day Test after Ravichandran Ashwin's retirement.

The fourth test between India and Australia is scheduled to start at 5 AM on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and just a couple of days ahead, India have named Tanush Kotian as the new addition to the squad. The 26-year-old is an off-spinner who is very handy with the bat as well.

According to some media reports, Kotian has gotten his maiden call for the Indian team. He is likely to fly to Melbourne on December 24. He is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai. The 26-year-old has shown promising signs as a capable spin all-rounder at the domestic level.

He was part of India A squad that played two matches in Australia before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The all-rounder has played all three formats for Mumbai. In FC cricket, he has played 33 games and taken 101 wickets at an average of 25.70 and a best of 5/58. With the bat, he has scored 1525 runs at an average of 41.21 with two centuries and 13 half-centuries.
