Updated Points Table T20 World Cup 2022 on 24th Oct after BANvsNED & SAvsZIM: While Bangladesh defeated the Netherlands by nine runs in the first match on 24th Oct, South Africa shared points with Zimbabwe after rain played spoilsport and no result could be drawn from the second match.?
The Netherlands faced a close defeat against Bangladesh as they fell nine runs short to go over the rope. After winning the toss, Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards opted to have a ball and invited Bangladesh to set a total.
Multiple small contributions here and there from the players led Bangladesh to a competitive score of 144 in the loss of 8 wickets. Afif Hossain was the pick of the batters as he scored 38 runs.
In pursuit of 144 runs total, Netherlands couldn?t build a strong partnership and their only hope to remain in the contest was with Colin Ackermann, who scored 68 runs in 48 deliveries. Towards the end of the innings, Paul van Meekeran scored a quickfire 24 runs in 14 deliveries to take Netherlands close. However, it was Bangladesh that eventually emerged winner by nine runs.
The second fixture of the day was always under thick clouds of rain. The rain was predicted to play spoilsport through the course of the match between South Africa and Zimbabwe. After a long wait, finally, some play was possible, albeit 9 overs per side.
Zimbabwe played out its nine overs and scored 79 runs, but the rain showers again posed a challenge as South Africa only got a three overs game in which they had scored 51 runs. Eventually, the officials called off the game and it ended with no result. Two points were shared by both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
