In the last warm-up match of T20 World Cup 2024, India and Bangladesh will face each other on Saturday at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in USA. Meanwhile, all the fans’ eyes are on Indian team’s star player Virat Kohli who has not yet reached USA. PTI reports that Kohli took a leave of absence for personal reasons, but he is anticipated to return to the team on Friday, May 31. But according to an ESPN CricInfo report, the BCCI has not yet given any information regarding his travel status. Due to the lengthy flight, it is doubtful if he will be able to participate in Saturday’s warm-up match against Bangladesh at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, even if he arrives by Friday.
Recently, Virat Kohli was seen spending time in a Mumbai restaurant with his wife Anushka Sharma, his friends Zaheer Khan, Sagarika Ghatge, and YouTuber Gaurav Kapur.
“The BCCI are yet to provide any kind of a update regarding Virat Kohli’s travel status to the USA,” ESPNCricinfo reported. Virat’s last match was on 22nd May in the eliminator of IPL 2024 where his team Royal Challengers Bengaluru were eliminated from the playoffs by Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals.
Kohli was anticipated to link up with his Indian teammates in the United States of America by 31st May, Friday but his chances of featuring in the warm – up game against Bangladesh om 1st June are pretty uncertain.
“His chances of featuring in the warm up fixture against Bangladesh are looking pretty bleak keeping in mind the travel time between India and USA,” PTI said.
Virat had a really good IPL 2024 season with the bat as he won the Orange Cap for the second time in his career and amassed 741 runs in 15 games at a really good strike rate of 154.70.
The Men in Blue will begin their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign on 5th june against Ireland and the much awaited India vs Pakistan clash will be played on 9th June at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The Indians will then take on co – hosts USA on 12th June before traveling to Lauderhill, Florida for the final group stage match against Canada on 15th June.
