Kohli is set to return to T20 Cricket in the IPL
After retiring from T20 Internationals following Team India's magical title win in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 36-year-old will now be seen playing T20 Cricket in the IPL for RCB. There were some speculations that Virat may be given the captaincy duties of the team once again but the RCB team management instead decided to go ahead with Rajat Patidar. Virat previously captained Bengaluru from 2013 to the 2021 season of the cash-rich T20 league. However, he was not successful in helping the franchise lift their maiden IPL Trophy.
Kohli is on the verge of achieving a massive feat
The legendary Indian batter is on the brink of achieving a historic feat in the shortest format of the game and he's also set to become the first ever Indian to create this record. He needs to score just 114 runs to become the fastest batter to complete 13,000 runs in T20 Cricket. The elite batter has so far amassed 12,886 runs in 399 games.
Virat began his T20 journey in 2007
The journey of Virat Kohli in T20 Cricket started off in 2007 as he made his debut in the format for the state team of Delhi. The very next year, he helped the Indian U-19 team to lift the Junior World Cup in Malaysia. His success as a captain and batter in that tournament is what led to him being picked by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2008 edition of the IPL, which was also the tournament's debut season.
Virat has been associated with the franchise ever since and he also holds the record of being the only player to represent the same IPL franchise in every season. He's the batter to have scored the highest number of runs and hundreds in the history of the competition. He has amassed a total of 8,004 runs with the bat and has eight tons to his name & 55 fifties at an average ofof 38.67.
