There's some good news for the Indian Cricket Team fans as star-batter and IPL 2024 Orange Cap winner Virat Kohli is anticipated to reach New York city on time ahead of India?s warm up fixture against Bangladesh. Kohli, who had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to grant him a short break following the conclusion of RCB'S IPL 2024 campaign didn't board the flight to the US with the first batch of players of the Indian team, which touched down in New York city on Sunday.
According to some news reports, the 35-year-old will link up with the rest of his teammates in the US before 1st June. It's believed that he will fly to New York by the end of May.
?He (Virat Kohli) will land in the city of New York before our warm-up match against Bangladesh on 1st June. The decision regarding his participation in the warm up match will be taken by the team management if they feel that he has had an ample amount of rest before landing in the USA,? a BCCI source on the basis of anonymity told News 18.
Kohli had an exceptional IPL 2024 campaign with the bat as he won the orange cap after scoring 741 runs in 15 games at an unbelievable average of 61.75. His 741 runs consisted of one century and five half centuries at a strike rate of more than 154.
The 35 year old won the Orange Cap for the second time in his IPL Career as he finished as the highest run getter in IPL 2024. His first Orange Cap win was way back in 2016, where he amassed 973 runs - the highest by any player in the history of the Franchise based T20 League.
Indian Cricket Team's second batch of players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal joined their fellow teammates in New York on 28th May.
