Virat Kohli, the Indian team’s star batsman, is out of the current five-match Test series against England. In such a situation, his absence from the 17th IPL season is now called into question. Former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar has claimed that Virat Kohli may skip the IPL in 2024. According to Gavaskar, Virat Kohli may not play in the 17th season of the IPL.

Kohli was last seen playing on the ground in the T20I series against Afghanistan, after which he is staying away from cricket due to family reasons. This is the first time that Kohli has remained away from the ground for such a long time. Answering the questions being raised about Kohli playing in the IPL, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Kya woh khelenge? kuchh reason ke liye khel nahi rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play? He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in the IPL as well.”

Gavaskar also praised Kohli as well as Indian wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Jurel. Looking at Jurel’s performance in the fourth match of the recent India vs England Test series, he compared him with MS Dhoni and also believed that he could be the star player of IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s first match is with Ms. Dhoni’s team, the Chennai Super Kings. This match will be played on March 22 at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. In such a situation, there is very little possibility that a player like Virat Kohli would not want to miss such a big tournament under any circumstances.
