?Want to create a strong bond with players,? says Rohit Sharma after taking India?s white-ball captaincy: Recently, turmoil in Indian cricket took place where the leadership of the white ball squad was shuffled. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Rohit Sharma as the new captain of the limited-overs squad replacing Virat Kohli.?

Though Rohit has already begun his T20I captaincy roles, his duties in One Day Internationals (ODIs) will commence with the tour to South Africa. India is scheduled to play three ODI matches against South Africa.

The new Indian skipper has been part of the Indian dressing room for a long time and understands what are the issues that need to be addressed. Ahead of his first series as the captain, Rohit in an interview posted on BCCI TV said that he will make sure to form a strong connection between the players and it will be the first step of his leadership.

"What we think of each other is more important. You want to share a strong bond between players and that is what will help us achieve the goal we want to,? said the Indian skipper in his interview posted on BCCI tv.

Reports following the captaincy change suggested a fallout between Virat Kohli and the BCCI, however, Rohit rubbished all the speculations and said outside talks are ?immaterial.?

?It?s just important for us to focus on what we have in hand; which is to go and win games and play the way you are known for. So, those talks outside are immaterial,? Rohit Sharma added.

Important to focus on respective jobs:

?For me, personally, as a cricketer, it is important to focus on my job and not to focus on what people are talking about because you can?t control that. I have said it a million times and I will keep repeating it. This is also the same message to the team and the team understands that when we are playing a high-profile tournament, there will be a lot of talks,? he added.

The dashing cricketer further stressed cutting off with the noise of the outside world. He said that playing for India is always going to be a pressure situation and the talks are always going to be there.

?When you are playing cricket for India, the pressure is always going to be high. The pressure is always going to be there. There will be a lot of people talking about it; be it positively or negatively,? he added.
