Indians vs Super Kings: Mystery spinner Noor Ahmad took the important wicket of Mumbai Indians's Tilak Varma in the mega clash of IPL 2025 between arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Sunday, 23rd of March. The chinaman caught Varma plumb in front of the stumps for 31 runs in 25 deliveries, leaving the visiting team in a troubling situation at 96-6.
The dismissal came in the 13th over of the MI innings as Noor bowled a delivery outstide the off stump and it turned in and Tilak failed to deal with it. The on-field umpire quickly gave the judgement in favor of the CSK spinner but the Southpaw took the help of the DRS review. However, the replays showed that the ball was clearly hitting the stumps and Varma had to go back to the dugout.

The 20-year-old spinner shined brighly on his IPL debut for the Chennai-based team, picking up important wickets of stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Robin Minz & Naman Dhir, finishing the match with magnificent figures of 4-18 to his name. CSK had spent 10 crore Indian rupees to secure the services of the Afghan spinner at the mega auction for the next three seasons.
Khaleel Ahmed & Noor Ahmad shine as Chennai dominates Mumbai in high-octane IPL 2025 encounter
A clinical & decisive bowling performance from the duo of Khaleel Ahmed & Noor Ahmed helped Chennai dominate Mumbai in the high-ocatne IPL 2025 league phase match. Apart from the superb bowling display of Noor, left-arm seamer Khaleel provided two crucial early breakthroughs to his side as he sent openers Ryan Rickelton (13 runs) and Rohit Sharma (0 runs) back to the pavilion. Off-Spinner Ravi Ashwin also bagged a wicket in his very first over, getting rid of Will Jakcs for 11 runs.
In the end, the Suryakumar Yadav-led sie were able to post just 155 runs on the board at the loss nine wickets, with left-handed batter Tilak Varma top scoring with his knock of 31 runs. Skipper Surya (29 runs) and Deepak Chahar (28 runs) also chipped in with useful batting contributions.
In the IPL, CSK has defeated MI four times in a row. Last season, they defeated the team captained by Hardik Pandya by a margin of 20 runs. With five titles each, the two sides are the most successful IPL franchises.
