Kalvin Phillips joins West Ham on loan
The Sky Sports report that Premier League side West Ham have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign their midfielder for the remainder of the season. Having made only 31 appearances for Man City since joining the Etihad back in 2022 from Leeds, Kalvin will be moving to another English side to get more chances.?
Reports claim that quite a few clubs had shown interest in the 28-year-old. Crystal Palace and Newcastle made contact with City to make a deal for the English midfielder. Juventus, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid were also understood to be interested in signing Kalvin.
Phillips was finding it hard to get a spot in the team for City. Since his joining, he started only twice for The Etihad making 14 other substitute appearances. This season he hasn't managed a single start in The Premier League. Meanwhile, he is likely to view it as an opportunity to showcase his talent to find a secured place in the team ahead.
Phillips emerged as one of the most outstanding defensive midfielders in the country during his tenure with Leeds. He represented England in 31 matches playing in every game as they reached the final of the Euro 2021. In the Three Lions? last fixture against North Macedonia, he played for six minutes. This indicates that Gareth Southgate still has faith in his abilities.
