Will Deepak Chahar receive his IPL 2022 salary after getting ruled out of the tournament? Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have recently suffered a major blow after their premier pacer Deepak Chahar was adjudged unfit to take part in the ongoing fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chahar has sustained a back injury owing to which he will no longer make a comeback in the Tata IPL 2022.

Notably, Chennai had invested INR 14 crores to get Deepak Chahar?s elite services during the player auctions held in February.

Deepak Chahar had sustained a quadricep tear during the home T20I series against West Indies following which he was sent for a rehabilitation program at the NCA. To his bad luck, Chahar, while undergoing his rehab program at the NCA, suffered a back injury that diminished his chances of participation in the Indian T20 tournament.

Earlier, with a quadriceps tear, Chahar was expected to make a comeback somewhere during the second week of April, however, now he is completely out of the run.

Ever since the news broke out, it became a topic of discussion amongst netizens whether his IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, will pay him his IPL 2022 salary, which is INR 14 crores, or he will have to go barehanded.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has some set rules and regulations that deal with such unforeseen situations. According to the players' insurance policy of the BCCI, all the centrally contracted players will receive a full share of their IPL contracted amount even if they miss the entire tournament due to an injury. The entire amount is paid by the BCCI.

In this case, Deepak Chahar lies in BCCI?s grade C central contract 2022 which entitles him to get his full IPL 2022 salary despite not playing a single game in the season for CSK.

In case a contracted player gets injured and ruled out during the Indian Premier League, then half of his salary will be paid by the BCCI while half will be paid by the franchise.

In case a non-contracted player gets injured before playing even a single game for the franchise and gets ruled out, then he misses out on his entire salary.

As of now, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hasn?t announced any replacement for the pacer. If the reports are to be believed veteran pacer Ishant Sharma and Dhawal Kulkarni are two of the most probable choices that Chennai can make.
