Women's Premier League 2023 Auction: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to host the first-ever Women's Premier League 2023 auction on 10th February 2023 in Bengaluru. The Indian cricket board will make an official announcement in the next couple of days, however, sources close to the development confirm the details.
As per the sources, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru have been shortlisted to stage the Women's Premier League 2023 Auction with the Bengaluru being the frontrunner.
?We haven?t decided on the date and venue yet. We will finalise both in a day or two. February 10-11 are the likely dates. But we have to consult with our broadcasting partner as well. The logistics will also have to be considered. Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai are the preferred venues. But we will take a call on that in due course,??an IPL GC member told InsideSport.
Meanwhile, the player registration deadline for the Women's Premier League 2023 Auction ended on January 26 at 5 PM.
The board has opted against the player's draft procedure for the Women's Premier League Auction, rather it will have a men's IPL-style player auction. The players will have a reserve base price of INR 50, 40 and 30 Lakhs. For uncapped players, the base price will be capped at INR 10, 20 Lakhs.
Each WPL franchise will pick a squad consisting of 15-18 players with a purse value of INR 12 Crores. A playing 11 can have a maximum of five overseas players of which one must be from the associate nation.
The first season of the Women's Premier League is likely to begin in the first week of March. The schedule of the event is in the process of making.
?With regard to the venues for the first season, we are still talking. That is a work in progress. We will have to see logistical challenges involved in case it has to be multi-city value or single-city value,??Arun Dhumal told ESPNCricinfo.
The BCCI earlier confirmed the purchase of five WPL franchises - Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Lucknow - for a record INR 4669.99 Crores.
