World Cup 2032 Points Table Updated: Pakistan's run in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 has been cut short by England, last night, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. England hammered Pakistan by a massive 93 runs to end their campaigns. With the loss, Pakistan's hopes of making it to the semi-finals of World Cup 2023 were also shattered. While England finished their campaign in the seventh position, Pakistan remained in the fifth spot in the World Cup 2023 Points Table.
England has managed to bring some smiles in their dressing room following an awful run in the World Cup 2023. The defending champions lost six games out of seven to get eliminated from the semi-final race even before the tournament could reach its climax. However, they have turned it around a bit by consecutively winning two games on the bounce to finish their showpiece event.
All thanks to England's 93-run victory against Pakistan, they have confirmed a place for themselves in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Pakistan, on the other side, had an unrealistic task of surpassing New Zealand's net run rate in the World Cup 2023 Points Table. Mathematically things were possible, however, practically everything was out of their hands. Moreover, their performance against England wasn't up to the mark to put them in a situation to threaten New Zealand's Net Run Rate.
England had scored 337 runs in their 50-over quota riding on the back of half-century knocks from Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Stokes. Later in the innings, Harry Brook and David Willey gave a handy contribution to take the team's total to 337 runs.
To get a seat in the World Cup 2023 Semi-Finals, Pakistan were required to chase the total in 6.4 overs, which was humanly not possible. Moreover, they couldn't start off well, losing both of their openers cheaply. Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman made healthy contributions, but in the end, they were too far from the required chase and lost the game by five wickets.
