World Cup 2023 Points Table Updated: An absolutely dramatic match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh where the latter conquered the former at Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi by 3 wickets. Shakib took all the limelight as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were officially eliminated from the World Cup in 2023. It was meant to be a historic match for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Angelo Mathews became the first ever player in International Cricket who was dismissed following a 'timed out' decision. This controversial match ended on a bad note when Sri Lanka refused post-match handshake rituals.
Bangladesh won the flip of the coin and opted to bowl first. Picked up an early first wicket and restricted Lankan batters to stay low. Asalanka and De Silva drove the innings and with an excellent ton by Asalanka, Sri Lanka posted a 280-run target. Sri Lanka also took an early wicket and pushed Bangladesh into the backfoot eliminating Litton Das in the 6th over. Then Shakib and Shanto weaved and superb 170-run partnership and led themselves in the driving seat.
Angelo Mathews took a short revenge as he dismissed Shakib Al Hasan at 82 runs. Bangladesh comfortably reached the target with 9 overs left and handed a 3-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka.

If Sri Lanka had won the match, they would have been still alive in the race to the semis but this loss has eliminated them. Now with India and South Africa already being qualified for the knockout stage, four teams are still in a tight race for just two remaining spots.
