WPL 2023: Women's cricket is the present sensation in recent scenarios, and world cricket is giving similar importance to women's cricket as that of men's cricket by hosting several ICC tournaments similar to those for men's cricket.
The initiative of the WPL was taken, and keeping the Women's BBL in mind, the BCCI is now all set to provide an equal and greater platform for their women players to compete with their international contemporaries.
In the beginning of the season of the WPL, let's take a look at the 5 possible batters who are expected to be on top of everyone to score maximum runs in the tournament:
5. Smriti Mandhana
The veteran Indian batter has been an asset for the Indian national team since her debut. She has been a stunning performer in all formats of the game and has ruled the shorter format like a queen. The talented Indian batter is a match-winner, and similar will be her role-playing for RCB women. Though Mandhana sticks to her orthodox style of batting, she is very effective in the modern format of the game and will be a great asset for her side in WPL 2023.
4. Tahila McGrath
The Australian middle-order batter is currently ranked No. 1 in the shorter format of the game. McGrath, who stars in the opening season of WPL for the UP Warriorz, is expected to perform similarly to his performance on the international platform. McGrath is one of the strongest and most classy power hitters in today's world, and over that, she is at the peak of her form in recent times, and short Indian boundaries will help her continue with this form.
3. Beth Mooney
Next on our list is another Australian batter, Beth Mooney, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the world T20I rankings. His recent man-of-the-match performance in the WT20I World Cup final shows his recent form. Mooney is a cult classic cricketer, only capable of playing classic shots and impressing with her timing and perfection. Having a diminutive stature, she is unable to hit many sixes, yet is known to have a fierce strike rate as per the requirements of the format.
2. Alyssa Healy
Healy is one of those legendary names in women's cricket and is one of the most fierce strikers of the cricket ball. Healy has proven her worth throughout the last few years, since when she was promoted to the top of the order. The right-handed batter is one of the few players who can lead her team to victory on her own. The UP Warriorz captain is expected to do equally well in the WPL as she does in international T20s or the WBBL.
1. Nat Sciver
This Englishwoman is one of those cricketers whom one would find in all the ICC rankings of all three formats of the game. Sciver is a strongly built, powerful striker who can change the course of the game at any moment and also keep the scoreboard ticking in tough situations.
Sciver is one of those very reasons that England is still in a competitive phase in world cricket despite no other player showing any sort of resistance, especially in the batting department. MI Women will be resting a huge portion of their hopes on the English cricketer due to her extreme caliber.
