WPL 2024: According to Jay Shah, the second season of the Women's Premier League would be played in one single state of India, as was the case in the previous season.? Shah, the secretary of the BCCI and the convenor of the WPL's committee, announced that WPL 2024 will begin in the second or third week of February.
"It is decided that we will have the tournament in February; most probably, we will start in the second or third week." During the WPL auction, he told reporters, "As far as the venue is concerned, it will be held in one state only for logistical reasons, and what if we don't get two venues in one city? Logistics are very important, and we can think of implementing the multi-city model just like the IPL next season.?
In regards to the selection of the venue where the matches of WPL 2024 might be played, the 35-year-old said that multiple options are available for the BCCI to consider. "We can hold the matches in either Bangalore or Uttar Pradesh." "We have so many venues, even in Gujarat, where we have Ahmedabad and Rajkot, and a new stadium is under construction in Vadodara," he remarked.
Jay Shah further stated that the WPL's regulatory board will meet with the WPL franchisees to finalize the venue?s. "Essentially, it is a joint decision by the franchises and the BCCI." We'll sit down and make a decision together. But the matches will undoubtedly be held in one state." The BCCI secretary stated that the venue selection must be done carefully in order to avoid clashes with domestic matches.
?We will need to have a look at the available venues at our disposal. Domestic matches are taking place in Gujarat, Chandigarh, and Ranchi. "We don't just want to organize WPL matches in Mumbai," he explained.
The Secretary of BCCI is pretty confident regarding the success of WPL 2024 and claims that the 2nd edition will be more successful than last year.
"This time, WPL Season 2 will be more successful. The most notable aspect of today's auction was that two uncapped players, particularly Indian players, received such large sums., It's a big thing that the franchises are showing a lot of interest in Indian players," he added.
