Most Runs in WTC 2023-25 Cycle: Young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a fantastic outing so far in the ongoing India vs England 5-match test series. The southpaw has stepped up on multiple occasions in the series with his scintillating batting form and is now on the verge of reaching a massive milestone during the India vs England 5th test in Dharmshala.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has over 650 runs in the four games of the test series against England, is just 29 runs away from aggregating 1,000 test runs in the ongoing cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC).
Should the opener manage to score 29 runs or more in the upcoming test match in Dharmshala, he will become the first batter to score 1,000 runs in the current 2023-25 WTC cycle.
22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal has 971 runs to his name in 8 matches of the ongoing WTC cycle at an impressive average of 69.35. The batter has slammed two double-centuries along with a century (171 runs) in his short career so far.
It's noteworthy that both the double-tons Jaiswal has scored have come against England. His maiden double-century (209 runs) came during the 2nd India vs England test which was held in Vishakhapatnam, while the second big score (214* runs) he racked up in Rajkot.
Besides Yashasvi Jaiswal, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is the only other Indian batter to feature in the list of players with the most runs in the WTC 2023-25 cycle. Rohit has amassed 597 runs in 8 test matches at an average of 42.64 and is placed in the ninth position.
India is set to lock horns against England in the fifth test which is scheduled to begin on March 07 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) in Dharmshala.
The five-match test series is already in the hands of India with an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the series. While India will eye finishing the exhilarating red-ball series on a high, England would love to exploit the Indian conditions in Dharmshala and produce a superb comeback to cap off the India tour.
