This was the first match of Group 1 in the Super 8, and Team India registered a clinical win. Ahead of this tournament, Virat was the leading scorer in this format, but he failed in the first few games. Virat, with 4066 runs, is second highest after Babar Azam (4145).
2. Most Man of the Match in T20 Internationals
Virat Kohli holds the record for the most Man of the Match in the shorter format. He has won 15 MOTM awards in 120 matches so far. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 53 runs off 28 balls in the IND vs AFG clash, was adjudged Man of the Match. It was his 15th MOTM award in his career. With this, he equalled Virat. Interestingly, SKY has taken only 64 matches to win 15 MOTM awards, while Virat has almost played double.
3. Most consecutive wins for India in T20Is
It was the fourth win for Team India in the T202 World Cup 2024. One of their games was washed out due to rain. But overall, India have registered eight wins in a row. This is now the third-longest winning streak for the Indian team in the shorter format. Their longest winning streak in T20Is is 12 matches, which they made between November 2021 and February 2022.
