Australia vs West Indies: Following a thrilling 1-1 finish in the two-match test series, Australia and the West Indies are all set to lock horns against each other in a three-match ODI series. The ODI series kicks off on February 2, with the first ODI set to take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The action then shifts to the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), where the second ODI will take place, and the third and final ODI will be played at Canberra?s Manuka Oval Stadium
The visitors are coming off a 2-1 One Day International series victory over England, while the Australians will be playing their first 50-over game since defeating India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. The Aussies will be playing under the leadership of Steve Smith, while Shai Hope will handle the leadership duties for the Windies.
Aussie opener David Warner recently announced his retirement from One Day Internationals; therefore, the series against the Windies will be the first One Day International series of the Kangaroo?s without the services of Warner. Senior players like Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood have been rested for this series, so a full, young, and new-looking Aussie team will be taking the field against the visitors.
The hosts have included the likes of Will Sutherland, Jack Fraser-McGurk, Xavier Bartlett, Matt Short, Aaron Hardie, and Lance Morris in the squad, alongside Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Sean Abbott, Adam Zampa, Travis Head, and Josh Inglis.
The Windies, on the other hand, will field a team of exciting youngsters under the leadership of Shai Hope, alongside experienced campaigners like Romario Shepherd, Oshane Thomas, and Roston Chase.
The visitors would be aiming to carry their famous Gabba Test victory in the One Day International series and would like to start a new era of West Indies Cricket by winning the ODI series against Australia.
