Vivo IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey tested covid positive.
Vivo IPL 2021: Former Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey on Tuesday was tested positive for coronavirus. The report came after, CSK bowling coach L Balaji tested covid positive on Monday.
Hussey?s test reports came on Tuesday. ?Hussey was tested and his sample came positive. We sent it for retesting but that has also come positive,? an IPL source told PTI.
Earlier on the day, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla announced the indefinite postponement of the lucrative Indian T20 League after multiple covid cases erupting inside the bio-bubble.
On Monday, CSK bowling coach L Balaji along with two players of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp had tested covid positive. The two KKR players were identified as spinner Varun Chakravarthy and medium-pacer Sandeep Warrier.
According to the reports, Delhi Capitals (DC) senior spinner Amit Mishra and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha had also tested covid-positive.
No special flights for Australian: CA
After the suspension of Vivo IPL 2021, Cricket Australia (CA) in a joint statement with the Australian Cricket Board (ACA) said that there will be no exemption for the players taking part in the Indian T20 league. The flights will remain banned till 15th May. However, they will closely work with the BCCI for the safety and secure home delivery of the players.
As many as 14 Australian players are competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said that the BCCI will find some ways to send the overseas recruits to their home safely at the earliest time possible.
