Vivo IPL 2021: DC?s Shreyas Iyer begin training in the UAE ahead of the Vivo IPL 2021.
Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals (DC) regular skipper Shreyas Iyer, who missed the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 due to an injury, has begun training in the UAE camps ahead of the Vivo IPL 2021. The second leg of the earlier suspended IPL is staged in the UAE, starting September 19.
Iyer sustained a shoulder injury during India vs England limited-overs series earlier this year and was subsequently ruled out for at least six months. The cricketer did not feature in the first half of the IPL and the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka.
He underwent surgery in the United Kingdom and began his rehab program soon after getting discharged from the hospital. He trained and got his strength back at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore.
The cricketer is now completely fit to play the lucrative Indian T20 League and travelled along with Delhi Capitals (DC) squad to the UAE. Iyer was seen batting in the social media post shared by the Delhi Capitals (DC).
"Meanwhile in the UAE... Can you guess who's back at practice in DC colours?"

Meanwhile, the return of the regular skipper will put the franchise management in a dilemma as Rishabh Pant, who is the stand-in skipper in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, has done invariably well and led the team effectively.
DC, after eight matches, is ranked first in the Vivo IPL 2021 Points table with five wins in eight matches.
It will be really interesting to see if DC resumes with the ongoing skipper Rishabh Pant or hands over the reins to regular skipper Shreyas Iyer on his return to cricket.
Iyer in a recent conversion revealed that the final call on the captaincy is in the hands of owners and the management. Furthermore, the cricketer said, the main focus for them is to lead Delhi to its maiden IPL title regardless of other things.
"I don't know about the captaincy, it's in the hands of the owners. But the team has already been doing well and we are on top and that's what really matters to me. My main aim and goal is to lift the trophy which Delhi has never done before," said Shreyas Iyer.
