Vivo IPL 2021 SRH vs DC: Delhi Capitals (DC) won the first Super Over of IPL 2021 against SRH.
Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals (DC) thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the first Super Over of the Vivo IPL 2021 after scores got levelled at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Kane Williamson and David Warner could only manage to score seven runs in the Super Over while Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan chased it down in the last ball to win the game.
SRH were off with a blistering start with Jonny Bairstow taking on the bowlers cleanly. The English cricketer scored 38 off just 18 balls with four sixes and three boundaries and a strike rate of 211.11.
One again SRH middle order failed to complement the batting of Kane Williamson as DC one by one scalped wickets from one end.
Kane Williamson gritty innings of unbeaten 66 off 51 took SRH close to the total. Williamson smacked eight boundaries with a strike rate of 129.41. While J Suchith smashed a couple of boundaries to level the score in the last ball of the final over.
SRH scored 159 in the loss of 7 wickets in the 20 overs.
Pacer Avesh Khan picked three wickets while spinner Axar Patel and Amit Mishra scalped two and one respectively.
For Delhi Capitals (DC) Opener Prithvi Shaw scored 53 off just 39 deliveries with the help of seven fours and a six. While his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan played second fiddle scoring 28 off 26.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant amassed 37 off 27 at the backend to power his team to 159 runs in 20 overs.
Australian batsman Steven Smith remained not-out getting 25 balls 34 in the end.
With the win against SRH, Delhi jumped over RCB to take over the second spot in the points table with eight points in 5 games so far.
