Team India were three overs behind the allotted time on the 1st ODI and so the hosts are fined a hefty 60 percent of their match fees.

India skipper Rohit Sharma acknowledged the penalty leveled by on-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Nitin Menon, third umpire K N Ananthapadmanabhan, and fourth umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal. Hence, a? formal hearing was not required.

It is to be noted that the 30-yard circle rule, which is already in effect for the shortest format, isn't yet implemented in the ODI format. It will be applied once the ODI Super League is completed.

The match was actually hanging by a thread until the final over, so nobody even realized the delay. After the smooth first half of the second innings for India, Micheal Bracewell was the only man standing for the Blackcaps who pushed India to glance regularly at the scoreboard.
