IND vs WI: Team India's T20I captain Hardik Pandya is all set to achieve a memorable feat in T20 International cricket as he takes the field for India vs West Indies 2nd T20I in Guyana. The senior all-rounder will look to go past Jasprit Bumrah to rank higher in the list of players with the most T20I wickets for India.
Hardik Pandya, who currently sits in fifth position in the list of highest wicket-takers in T20I cricket for India, just needs one scalp to go past Jasprit Bumrah, who ranks fourth in the same list.
Notably, Hardik has managed to bag 70 T20I wickets after featuring in 77 games since his debut in 2016 against Australia. On the other side, Jasprit Bumrah, who debuted in the same T20I match alongside Hardik Pandya, has managed to scalp 70 T20I wickets in just 60 matches.
If the Indian T20I captain manages to bag even a single wicket during the IND vs WI 2nd T20I on 6th August, he will go past Jasprit Bumrah in the list of Indians with the most T20I wickets.
The record is led by seasoned spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 93 wickets in 76 appearances, followed by ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 90 scalps.
Down below is the list of the top 5 bowlers with the most T20I wickets for India:
Pos. | Player Name | Wickets | Matches |
01 | Yuzvendra Chahal | 93 | 76 |
02 | Bhuvneshwar Kumar | 90 | 87 |
03 | Ravichandran Ashwin | 72 | 65 |
04 | Jasprit Bumrah | 70 | 60 |
05 | Hardik Pandya | 70 | 77 |
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah would again look to rise in the rankings as soon as he makes his international comeback in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. Bumrah will lead the Indian side, while, Hardik Pandya will be rested for the Ireland tour.
The experienced pacer has been out of cricket action for close to a year now. He last played his international fixture back in September and since then he has been nursing his persistent back injury.
Clearly, he looks fit now after undergoing a surgical procedure earlier this year and will look to get back to the same rhythm as he was before the forced break.
IND vs WI: India look to level series during India vs West Indies 2nd T20I
The Hardik Pandya-led team India would aim to level the five-match T20I series after losing the first encounter in Trinidad, a couple of nights ago.
West Indies defeated India by 4 runs after posting a total of 149 runs in 20 overs. In pursuit of a modest total, India crashed at a score of 145 runs and subsequently lost the fixture.
While the Men in Blue would look to level the lead, the hosts would aim to extend their sublime patch with another victory against India. The IND vs WI 2nd ODI begins on August 06, Sunday.
