IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals (RR) traded Robin Uthappa to Chennai Super Kings.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Rajasthan Royals have traded Robin Uthappa to the three-time title winner Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2021. The trade was done in an all-cash deal by both the franchise and the veteran batsman will be seen feature alongside MS Dhoni.
Uthappa last season for Rajasthan Royals featured in 12 games in which he scored 196 runs with 41 as his highest score of 2020 IPL.
Rajasthan Royals despite opening the season with back to back big wins at Sharjah finished last in the points table after the end of League stages.
?I really enjoyed my time with the Royals and have been a pleasure to play for them. I am really excited for my new chapter with Chennai Super Kings and looking forward to working with them,? Robin Uthappa said in a statement.
Chennai Super Kings will be Robin?s sixth IPL franchise and he previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) Pune Warriors India (PWI), and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Uthappa till now has played 189 IPL games in which he amassed 4607 runs at an average of 27.92. His IPL career also includes 24 half-centuries.

In a statement, RR COO Jake Lush McCrum thanked the 35-year-old for his contribution. ?We?d like to thank Robbie for his contribution during his time with us. ?We personally loved working with him for years and we do have the depth of openers. We got an offer and we thought it was a good opportunity for all the sides and the player. Rajasthan Royals would like to wish Robin Uthappa all the best for his future with CSK and beyond,? he added.
Rajasthan Royals on 20th January released eight players. This included their skipper Steve Smith. Sanju Samson is named as the new skipper of the side for IPL 2021.
