IPL 2024: SRH slams massive record of CSK in IPL after their brutal win over LSG

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) slammed a long-time record held by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Pat Cummins-led side now has the most sixes by the team in the single edition of the league.?

SRH achieved the feat in the game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the two teams took place on Wednesday (8th May) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. 

SRH displayed a brutal display and hammered the opposition by 10 wickets to make their case strong for the playoffs of the IPL 2024. On the birthday of their skipper Pat Cummins, the team came up with a sensational performance at their home ground. 

They were asked to field first and they bowled sensationally well. SRH restricted Lucknow Super Giants to just 165 runs and it seemed that it would be a cracker of a game. But the opening batters made a mockery of the opposition?s bowling lineup.?

Abhishek Sharma (75*) and Travis Head (89*) came out all guns blazing. They blew away the LSG with their brutal batting display and chased the 165 runs in just 10 overs and with 10 wickets in hand. 

During the innings, SRH batters slammed 14 sixes and surpassed Chennai Super Kings? tally of 145 sixes in a season. The five-time champions hit 145 maximums in 16 games that they played in IPL 2018. However, the Orange Army surpassed them in just 12 matches.

The ongoing IPL 2024 has seen over 1000 sixes being struck in 57 matches. The record for the most sixes in a single edition stands at 1124 sixes in a 74-game season from last year.
