IPL 2021: Jofra Archer likely to miss the first half of IPL 2021, confirms ECB.
IPL 2021: England pace spearhead Jofra Archer will most probably miss out on the first half of the fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday confirmed the statement while announcing England?s ODI squad against India.
The ODI series between India and England will begin on 23rd March in Pune.
ECB on media release said Jofra Archer has sustained elbow injury and is not fit for the selection for the upcoming ODI series against India. He will work with the ECB medial team for the next couple of weeks.
?Jofra?s elbow issue has deteriorated over the course of the T20I series and made it increasingly difficult for him to maintain performance levels,? an ECB statement said. ?He has been deemed unfit for selection for the ODI series that features matches on 23, 26 and 28 March.
?ECB medial team will constantly work with the pacer with a perfect work plan. We will try our best to bring him back on full fitness, he will miss few initial games of the Indian Premier League (IPL).?
The cricketer complaint about the elbow injury back in early 2020 and he was ruled out of the IPL 2020. However due to the pandemic, the Indian T20 tournament was held in September and he was fine to take part in the competition.
According to ECB, his injury has worsened in the India vs England T20I series. Archer played all the five T20I games against India and bowled his full quota of four overs in the games.
With this fitness level, he won?t be able to take part in the ICC T20 World Cup later this year in India. ECB wants him to be fit for the major event and will work in the favour of the cricketer.
He will be out of the first half of the Indian T20 Tunrmanent and is likely to return in the second half with a better elbow.
He will head back to the UK for his treatment and assessment said ECB.
