Things are not going well for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They became the first team to be eliminated from the 17th edition of the and are reeling at the bottom of the points table. 

With Mumbai Indians set to lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game, a report in Indian Express has claimed that senior players of the franchise are not happy with the way Hardik Pandya has captained the team. They have conveyed the same to the coaches.

An official of Mumbai Indians reported that players are unhappy that there is a lack of buzz in the dressing room and the reason behind that has been the leadership style of Hardik Pandya. He also said that although there’s no leadership crisis but team is still following Rohit’s captaincy template which has been there for the last 10 years. 

Speaking to Indian Express, he stated “These are regular teething problems for a team that sees leadership change. This happens in sports all the time,”

The reports also claimed that Rohit Sharma Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah had a meeting with the coaching staff and discussed reasons for the team not doing well. The management and senior players also had one-on-one interactions.

This all comes after Hardik Pandya blamed Tilak Varma for the loss against Delhi Capitals despite a batter slamming a half-century. He stated that the left-hander should’ve taken an attack to Axar Patel and the result could’ve been different. 

This didn’t go well with many in the dressing room. The reports also claimed that Mumbai Indians, like every year, will take stock of the season and, if needed, take a call on the future of the team. After SRH defeated LSG, the five-time champions were eliminated from the tournament. With mega auction slated to take place next year, it remains to be seen what will be the future of the tea,.
