MI?s Ishan Kishan not worth INR 15 crores says, Shane Watson: Former Aussie all-rounder reckons Mumbai Indians (MI) young wicketkeeper batter, Ishan Kishan went utterly expensive during the player's auctions held in February. Watson has slammed the five times IPL champions for aggressively bidding for Ishan Kishan and blowing away nearly full salary.

Shane Watson, who is present with Delhi Capitals as a coach, further lambasted Mumbai for buying injured Jofra Archer at a massive sum.

MI bought the likes of Ishan Kishan for a colossal sum of INR 15.25 crores after fighting bidding wars with a couple of franchises while Jofra Archer was bagged at INR 8 crores price.

Mumbai?s winless run in the Tata IPL 2022 continued as the franchise lost its sixth fixture against Lucknow Super Giants in the Brabourne Stadium. It?s now almost a fact that Mumbai Indians are partially eliminated from the Tata IPL 2022 playoff race.

"It hasn't surprised me that MI are at the bottom of the table because they had a shocking auction. Spending so much money on Ishan Kishan... He is a very talented and skilful player, but he's not worth blowing nearly your whole salary on," Watson said on the Grade Cricketer podcast.

Mumbai retained the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard ahead of the mega auction.?

The former all-rounder added that Mumbai?s strategy to go after Jofra Archer wasn?t a great move.

"And then, going for Jofra Archer, not knowing whether he is going to come back in. He hasn't played cricket for quite a while. They have got quite a few holes in the team," he added.

Notably, the Ambani owned IPL team also spent INR 8 crores on Tim David, however, the batter was benched soon after a couple of initial matches.

The team in blue and gold couldn?t get over the line even in their latest fixture against Lucknow Super Giants. Mumbai now has registered six consecutive losses in six matches in the Tata IPL 2022. LSG defeated Mumbai by 18 runs.
