Vivo IPL 2021: Mohammad Azharuddin offers BCCI to host IPL 2021 games in Hyderabad.

Vivo IPL 2021: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president and Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin on Sunday have come up with an offer for BCCI to host IPL 2021 games in Hyderabad in case the body is planning to move games out of Mumbai.

The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday said that Indore and Hyderabad have been kept as the backup option for IPL 2021 if covid-19 hit Mumbai fails to host games.

The decision was taken after 10 groundstaff and six event managers of Wankhede Stadium Mumbai have tested positive for the coronavirus. All the staff members have been sent home and a fresh bunch of members have been called in.

?In these difficult times, there is all the more reasons for us to stand by each other. Hyderabad Cricket Association would like to offer its facilities to @BCCI to ensure that IPL2021 is conducted in safe and secure venues,? Azharuddin wrote on his Twitter handle.

Maharashtra alone has recorded over 35,000 covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and Mumbai accounts for 9,108 cases alone. After the surge in the cases, the Maharashtra government has decided to put the state under strict night lockdown.

However, senior BCCI official said that Mumbai will host the IPL games even if the situations gets worsened in the city.

?Look, the games will be held irrespective of the situations. Players are in a bubble and the games will be played behind the closed gates and nothing has to do with the outside world. So we are still confident that IPL games in Mumbai will be held as per schedule with Delhi Capitals playing Chennai Super Kings on April 10 on the second day of the tournament,? he had said.

?But Hyderabad and Indore are there on stand by in case the situation goes out of hand.?
