Pakistan vs West Indies ODI series called-off due to covid outbreak in Karachi: The upcoming three matches ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies has been called off by the officials following the covid outburst in the visitors camp. The ODI series was scheduled to start on Saturday, this week.

As many as five members of the West Indies travelling squad have tested covid positive on Thursday. Earlier, four other members were infected with the virus who were immediately sent to isolation.

The officials from both sides have approved to postpone the three matches ODI series which will now be scheduled at a later date, next year in June. The 50-overs series was the part of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Super League.

Despite the outbreak, both PCB and CWI were convinced to complete the T20I series. The depleted West Indies played the third T20I match with the limited resources they had.

The covid positive players will have to isolate themselves in Karachi until they return three covid negative reports.

Pakistan vs West Indies ODI series call-off is a huge blow for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that has been abandoned after England Cricket Board (ECB) and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) recently backed off from their respective tours of Pakistan on security grounds.

Earlier, New Zealand cancelled the tour, minutes before the toss of the 1st match at Karachi. The visitors flew back to their country after reports of threats and players security came up. England worked in tandem with New Zealand and cancelled their tour as well on similar grounds.
