Rachin Ravindra goes past greats like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers with latest ICC hundred in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy
Rachin Ravindra scores the 5th ICC hundred in just the second ICC tournament he plays for New Zealand.
This comeback edition of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has been prolific and exciting, not only for the sound cricket action but also for several players achieving iconic individual accolades.
In the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa, the Blackcaps decided to bat on the suitable track of Lahore, probably the highest-scoring ground in the country. Rachin Ravindra was again the highlight of the Kiwi innings with his adorable shots all around the park.
Despite being a modern-day cricketer, Ravindra is so graceful to watch in his drives and stunning off-side play typical for a left-hander.
Ravindra, who made his ICC debut in the 2023 World Cup, went on to have a dream season playing on the land of his roots. Ravindra scored 578 runs in his 10 innings, with 3 hundred and 2 fifties to his name.
The ICC Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh marked his Champions Trophy debut, and he announced his arrival once again with a hundred. With that, he surpassed the likes of greats Viv Richards and Hashim Amla for having the most ICC ODI hundreds.
With today’s hundred that came off just 95 balls in the vital semi-final clash, Ravindra surpassed greats like de Kock, AB de Villiers and Mahela Jayawardene, while with 5 ODI hundreds in ICC tournaments, he equalled alongside Chris Gayle and more.
This 5th ICC hundred that came in just 13 innings in ICC ODI tournament matches for the 25-year-old is the fastest ever by any batter in history, even surpassing the likes of table toppers like Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and David Warner.
Kane Williamson also dropped on 56; First Kiwi batter to score 19000 International runs
New Zealand’s most veteran batter recently earned the top spot in the record books to have scored the fastest 7000 ODI runs in the number of innings played. Williamson showed his class against India in a tough chase in the final group-stage game, and by adding 27 runs to his tally, he became the first New Zealand batter with 19000 international runs.
Willaimson went on to add more valuable runs, thus giving it back to the Protea bowlers with his 48th ODI fifty. Kane was dropped by Klaasen on 56 off Lungi Ngidi, which might be a huge setback for the South African side coming into such a big platform.
