Vivo IPL 2021: Remaining 31 games of Vivo IPL 2021 likely to be held in UAE in September-October.
Vivo IPL 2021: The suspended Vivo Indian Premier League 2021 is likely to go ahead in UAE in the window of September-October before the marquee ICC T20 World Cup 2021. As per the report of the Times of India, BCCI has sketched a blueprint to reschedule the remaining 31 games of the Vivo IPL 2021 in a window of one month, starting September 15.
The official report from the board itself is expected to be revealed on 29th May after the scheduled Special General Meeting (SGM) of the BCCI.
The Indian outfit will be touring England for the final of the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand and the subsequent England-India five games test series. The gap after the end of the ICC WTC final and before the first test between India-England is in excess of 40 days.
The BCCI will look to reduce this 41 days long gap by talking with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). As of now, no talks have been initiated with the ECB.
To get more time for the IPL 2021, the nine-days gap between the second and the third test can be slightly reduced. ?If that gap can be reduced to four, it will allow BCCI five extra days to make use of. If we can have those extra days eked out from the India-England schedule, then it adds to the window,? the Times of India quoted a source as saying.
?If not (able to reduce the gap) then within these 30 days, a full day will have to be set aside for the Indian team and the English cricketers to travel from the UK to the UAE, five days will have to be set aside for the knockouts later.
That will leave the BCCI with 24 days to conclude 27 matches. This window has four weekends available, which means a total of eight Saturdays and Sundays for double-headers, that can accommodate 16 matches. That will leave the BCCI with 11 matches to be held in 19 days. That?s a week extra,? the source added.
The BCCI also feels that the remaining 31 games of the Vivo IPL 2021 can bridge the preparation for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which is scheduled to be held in India.?
