India vs England ODI: Team India?s dashing batsman and Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against England and is likely to miss the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, confirms BCCI.

Shreyas Iyer has sustained a shoulder injury during the series opener. According to the reports, the cricketer has dislocated his left shoulder while fielding in the second innings.

It was the eighth over of England?s innings when good looking Jonny Bairstow played a drive off Shardul Thakur. Iyer dived to stop the ball and dislocated his shoulder. He looked in horrifying pain as he left the field.

?It is unlikely he will play the first part of IPL,? a BCCI source told PTI

On Tuesday, the BCCI had stated, ?Shreyas Iyer subluxated (partially dislocated) his left shoulder in the 8th over while fielding. He has been taken for further scans.?.

The 26-years old cricketer scored 6 runs in the first innings and was dismissed by pacer Mark Wood.

Shreyas Iyer?s injury will be a serious blow for the young Delhi Capitals. He is doubtful for the first few weeks of IPL 2021 as he will be completing his rehab program.

He took Delhi to its maiden IPL final last year against Mumbai Indians. 

As per the experts, his shoulder will require at least six weeks to heal and the time will increase in case surgery will be done.

In the absence of Iyer, DC management might hand over the franchise reigns to young Rishabh Pant while they have other options in experienced Steve Smith and R Ashwin.
