Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh to join support staff of IPL Franchise in IPL 2022.
IPL 2022: Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is reportedly joining a top Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise in the coming season of the league. He will be seen in different roles in the IPL 2022 for one of the high profile teams.
Harbhajan Singh played a few matches in the India leg of the IPL 2021 but couldn?t get a single game in UAE playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The reports reveal that the 42-years old spinner will officially announce his final goodbye to competitive cricket at some time next week following which he will think about the offers.?
The former Indian spinner has received a couple of offers from top IPL teams for the roles of mentor, consultant and even for the member of the advisory group. He is likely to initiate the talks on one of those offers and join a franchise in a different capacity.
"The role could be that of a consultant, mentor or part of the advisory group but the franchise with which he is talking are keen to use his vast experience. He will take an active part in also helping the franchise decide on their auction picks," an IPL source privy to the development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

The last few seasons for Harbhajan Singh in the IPL went in grooming the young players for teams. He did the same for Mumbai Indians (MI), where he spent the majority of his time. Singh?s key role in KKR was also to assist the young players.
He was seen helping mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the last few seasons and in the recently held IPL 2021, Harbhajan was seen spending a lot of time assisting Venkatesh Iyer.
In fact, Venkatesh Iyer himself has revealed it was Harbhajan Singh who predicted that he was going to be a big hit in the IPL 2021 even before appearing in his first match.
"Look, Harbhajan wanted to make a formal announcement of his retirement after the season is over. He has had extended talks with one of the franchises which has shown keen interest but he would like to talk about it only when the deal is formally inked," the source said.
