It was the last time in May 2019 that Suresh Raina played competitive cricket. He did not play IPL 2020 owing to personal reasons. But now it is almost confirmed that he will play in IPL 2021. He is also representing Uttar Pradesh in the 2020/21 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, and this would be a warm-up for him before IPL 2021.
He is a valuable player for Chennai Super Kings, and the Chennai team will work hard to bring back the old golden days of IPL for them. This ambitious player has played 193 matches for IPL from 2008 till 2019. He has 5368 scores to his credit during the IPL career to date. He may inch towards 6000 runs in IPL 2021. It is often seen that comebacks by Cricketers are successful because they work harder than before to regain their grip over the audience.
There is no doubt that he is a great batsman, but his bowling is also impressive in IPL. He has gotten 25 wickets from 2008 till 2019 in IPL, and it is not bad for a mainstream batsman. Currently, Raina is not in any contract with Chennai Super Kings as he was released from the contract due to personal reasons. Now fans will have all eyes on IPL 2021 to enjoy the performance of this excellent player.
Right now, BCCI will have Annual General Meeting around Christmas 2020. There are many things on the platter of BCCI to discuss. A new format of IPL will be discussed, and if everything falls in line, then IPL 2021 will have two more teams. There are still speculations about auctions, whether they will happen before figuring out the schedule for IPL 2021 or after. As Suresh Raina is currently not in contract with Chennai Super Kings, he may have to go through the auction process. All these questions would be answered by the end of 2020.
There is another interesting fact about Suresh Raina. He is one of the highest-paid cricketers of IPL and the player who has earned a lot from IPL. If sources are to be believed, he has made 99 crores to date from IPL. Three Indian players have entered the 100 crore club, which means they have earned more than 100 crores from IPL to date. Although it would not be difficult to guess the names, they are MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. Suresh Raina would surely enter this 100 crore club after IPL 2021.
We are already thrilled to enjoy the performance of Suresh Raina in IPL 2021. Fans have hardly gotten over the IPL 2020 fever, and the next season is on the cards. There are many reasons to watch IPL 2021, and undoubtedly Suresh Raina is one of those reasons.
