BCCI wants ICC to discuss ?Soft Signal?, Covid-19 protocols to remain intact until July



The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to reopen the discussion regarding the ?Soft Signal? call by Umpires. The issue took the limelight after a recent controversy in India vs England T20I series.?



According to the reports, there have been several members who are in complete favour of removing it from the rule book and let the TV Umpire decide it. However, ESPNcrickinfo reports suggest that many are not in the favour of removing it including former Indian spinner Anil Kumble.



The International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee headed by Anil Kumble arranged a meet in early March to give light to various undisturbed issues. However, in the recent video meeting of the members, the recommendations regarding the ?Soft Signals? have been approved and are sent to ICC for final approval.



Indian skipper Virat Kohli earlier in the post-match conference said that there should be an ?I don?t know? call for the on-field umpires in case there is a close call or when they do not find any conclusive evidence. It is learnt that BCCI secretary Jay Shah has urgent to re-consider the ?Soft Signal? call with CEC members.



<h2>Covid-19 protocols to remain in force until July:</h2>



The ICC has decided to extend the covid-19 protocols for the international games until July this year. According to the protocols, players are restricted to use saliva to shine the ball, like-for-like replacement of players.



According to ESPNcricinfo, only sweat will be allowed to shine the ball and home umpires to continue officiating the International fixtures until July 2021.



Earlier, the ICC Cricket Committee suggested having one neutral umpire and three home umpires in a bilateral series however this decision is only feasible to those nations that do not have any quarantine restrictions.

Vivo IPL 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday ensures that all the overseas players playing in IPL 2021 will reach home safely and seamlessly once the Indian T20 tournament is wrapped up completely. BCCI released the notice after three Australian cricketers decided to quit the IPL 2021 midway due to the surge in the Covid-19 cases in the country.



Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) withdrew their names following Andrew Tye of Rajasthan Royals (RR) who flew back home after a recent surge in the Covid cases in India.



?We understand that many of you are apprehensive about how you will get back home once the tournament concludes? We want to apprise you that you have nothing to worry about,? BCCI COO Hemang Amin said in a letter addressed to the players.



?The BCCI will do everything to ensure that you reach your respective destinations seamlessly. The BCCI is monitoring the situation very closely and is working with the government authorities to make arrangements to get you home once the tournament concludes.



?BCCI will ensure that all the players reach their respective homes safely and that will be the time when the tournament will be over for BCCI.?



India is recording over 3 Lakhs covid cases on a daily basis after the second wave. The health care sector of the country is struggling with the oxygen crisis.



Many of the countries have already imposed restrictions on the people coming from India. The UK and New Zealand have suspended all the flights from India while Australia have reduced the flights by 30 percent.?

Vivo IPL 2021: Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday said that the board will not look for any exemptions for the Australian participants in IPL from the Government. Though they will coordinate with its BCCI counterparts to ensure the safety of the players for the time being, till the flights are banned from India.



The BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla on Tuesday announced the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for an indefinite period of time following the multiple covid-cases inside the bio-bubble.



Australian Cricket Association (ACA) and Cricket Australia (CA) in a joint statement said that they will look for ways forward for the safe home delivery of the players in these testing times.



?CA and the ACA respect the decision of the Australian Government to pause travel from India until at least May 15 and will not seek exemptions,? the joint statement said.

Vivo IPL 2021: The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) got suspended on Tuesday for indefinite time after multiple covid-positive cases came inside the biosecure bubble. Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Vivo IPL 2021 said that the organisation stands with the BCCI in support of their decision of suspension.



The development was confirmed after two more players were tested covid-positive. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Amit Mishra were found to be covid positive on Tuesday.



BCCI in a statement said that the board does not want to compromise with the safety of the involved players, support staff, commentators and the broadcasters hence they have decided to postpone the elite T20 competition.

Vivo IPL 2021: BCCI considers September window to complete the suspended Vivo IPL 2021.



Vivo IPL 2021: Now that the fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended on Tuesday, the board and the IPL GC are mulling around some opportunities so that the remainder of the season could be completed.



So far, 29 games of the Vivo IPL 2021 were completed out of the 60 games. The BCCI will be thinking of the opportunities to hold the remaining 31 games of the IPL 2021 and complete the season.



According to the reports, the most probable option left with the BCCI to conduct the remaining games is in the window of September, later this year.?



"A September window is being considered. By then the England-India series would be over and the foreign players would be ready for the T20 World Cup. That small window is being explored," said a franchise official who is in the know.



When asked about the next step of the BCCI to IPL chairman Brijesh Patel, he simply did not deny that small opportunity in September.



"Now we have to look for a window. If we get one, we will explore holding it. We'll have to see if it is possible in September. We need to examine the plans of the ICC and other boards," said IPL chairman Brijesh Patel.



Before the decision of the suspension of the IPL was made, the board contracted all the stakeholders and owners of the IPL franchises to take their opinions. Most of the owners were of the view of immediate suspension as the number of covid-cases in the bio-bubble were rising.



"It is very unfortunate but it is a decision that is correct under the current circumstances. I would say given the drastic increase in cases in the last two-three weeks, it has brought in a new dimension to the planning that was done at the beginning," said Ness Wadia who is the co-owner of Punjab Kings



With the rapid increase in the covid-19 cases in India, the T20 World Cup is also uncertain. According to the various news outlets, UAE has been put at stand-by to host the forthcoming T20 World Cup in case India gets ruled out.



The T20 World Cup 2021 is scheduled to take place from? October 18 to November 15 in India.

Vivo IPL 2021: After the abrupt indefinite suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) midway, there was a lot of mulling around where should the Indian cricket board conduct the remaining 31 games. The BCCI have three prominent options in front of the - UAE, Australia and the United Kingdom.



After the outbreak of the Covid-19 in the bio-bubbles of various franchises, BCCI abruptly decided that the elite competition will not go ahead further as planned.



While, in the meantime, four English counties - Middlesex, Surrey, Warwickshire and Lancashire - have responded saying that they are interested in conducting the remaining 31 games of the midway halted Vivo IPL 2021.



The BCCI is looking for a small window left in September after the wrap of India-England series to conduct the Phase-2 of the IPL 2021.



Lord?s, Oval (both London), Edgbaston (Birmingham) and Emirates Old Trafford (Manchester) all wrote to the ECB showing their interests, according to ESPN Cricinfo.



?The plans would see the tournament completed in around two weeks in the second half of September,? according to the report.



The final call regarding Phase-2 of the IPL might be taken after the ICC Chief Executives Meeting which is scheduled on Thursday. Both the representatives of BCCI and ECB may discuss the matter.



The BCCI has earlier also put up UAE and Australia as the option if everything goes well.



UAE is already tried by the BCCI. The last season?s IPL was conducted here without any halt and issues however if the IPL games were to be played before the T20 World Cup, then the pitches may go on a slower side in the latter part of the ICC tournament.



As far as Australia is concerned, everything will depend upon Australian government?s policies. Australia is scheduled to host the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and India will host this year?s T20 World Cup.&nbsp;



If by any means, Australian government approves to host the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and let India host the next year's World Cup, then the IPL might get shifted to Australia as a part of the preparation of the World Cup.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday indicated an overhaul of the Test squad after the ICC World Test Championship final defeat against New Zealand in the Hampshire Bowl Southampton.

He also focused on finding multiple ways to score runs in the longest format, which India lacked in the last test. The team managed to score 217 and 170 in the two innings that gave the kiwis an added advantage to put India under pressure.



?We definitely need to work out better plans on understanding how to score runs. We have to stay in sync with the momentum of the game and not let the game drift away much. I don?t think there are any technical difficulties as such.?



Kohli said that the batters need to score good runs and put the opposition bowling unit under pressure. He pointed out that unless it is overcast like day one, batters should keep the runs flowing and not stay idle at the crease and hoping not to get out.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021 may get shifted to the UAE, says Jay Shah, BCCI secretary.



ICC T20 World Cup 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may have to shift the important ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to the UAE due to irregularity in the covid situation in the country, says Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary.



Speaking to news agency ANI, Mr Shah informed that the board officials are monitoring the situations closely and a wiser call will be taken by keeping in mind the safety and health of the cricketers.



"Due to the COVID-19 situation in our country, we may shift the tournament to the UAE. We are monitoring the situation closely, the health and safety of players are paramount, we will take a final call soon," Shah told news agency ANI.

India is battling hard with the unprecedented covid pandemic since last year and is not yet completely recovered to be considered safe to host such a vast tournament comprising 16 international teams and their players.



The final call is yet not taken by the BCCI. As per the reports, the board will report to ICC on June 30th about the same.



The fourteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also slated to be held in the UAE. The tournament will get underway on September 19th and the final will be played on 15th October.



Moreover, the ICC recently revealed the starting and final date for the T20 World Cup. The marquee World Cup will begin two days after the final of IPL 2021, i.e., 17th October while the final will be held on November 14.



If the T20 World Cup is finalised in the UAE, the overseas players who may have thought of pulling out of the second phase of the IPL 2021 due to overloaded international schedules can probably reconsider their decision to participate.

We have got a limited amount of time on the calendar. A lot of cricket is being played through ICC events, bilateral cricket, and T20 Leagues. As far as the tipping point is concerned, I am not sure but there is pressure on the members to wade their way through. What they also need to take into account is that players themselves won't be certainly able to sustain the amount of cricket that is being played.?&nbsp;

India Cricket Team has been mulling over the fitness of Mohammed Shami. The fast bowler was included in the team as he was all set to make his comeback after the long injury. However, when he wasn't named in the XI for the first T20I, which raised speculations about his injury. 
Mohammed Shami reportedly faced some discomfort while climbing the steps. Rest, everything looked fine, and hence, BCCI won't want to rush him as they want him to be fit for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The pacer has been training hard with the team for the last few days.

The reports in RevSportz claimed that Mohammed Shami will be missing the next two games of the series as well. There are chances that he might be back in the team for the fourth T20I. After that, he will be playing in the ODI series as well for the team.
Mohammed Shami's last appearance for India came during the ICC World Cup 2023. After that, the fast bowler has been out of action. He was expected to make the comeback during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 but then was sidelined due to the knee injury that he faced while playing domestic cricket. 
The wait to see Mohammed Shami in action continues. With Jasprit Bumrah having a niggle, he will be extremely important for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be played in Pakistan and UAE from 19th February to 9th March.

In what has been the latest development as per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that India fast bowler Mohammed Shami will be missing part of the ongoing T20I series against England.

India is currently locking horns with each other in the ongoing T20I series against England. Both the teams are scheduled to play a five-match series, out of which the opening game has been played. The match took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (22nd January). 
India were off to a flying start with bat in the series as they won the game by the massive margin of 7 wickets. It was a magnificent outing with the bat and ball as they bundled out England for 132 runs and then chased the target inside 13 overs to take the lead. 
India ticked almost every box right, and it's fair to say that they wouldn't want to change the winning combination. But considering how Gautam Gambhir has been dealing as a head coach, it's fair to say that the team might make a few changes going into the second match of the series, which will be played on 25th January.

Mohammed Shami in for Ravi Bishnoi 
India played with just one seamer in the XI for the first T20I. It was reported that Mohammed Shami wasn't fit, and hence, India had to go with three spinners. However, if the fast bowler will be fit for the second game, it's a no-brainer that he will be back in the XI straightaway for the second game of the series. 
If he is deemed fit then it is likely that he will be replacing Ravi Bishnoi in the team. The leg-spinner didn't pick a wicket in the first T20I, and with the kind of performances that Varun Chakravarthy has been putting, it is likely that he will be preferred ahead of him. Hence Shami will be there if he is fit. 
Washington Sundar in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy 
Another change that India might be tempted to make is bringing Washington Sundar in the XI. Since the match is set to be played in Chennai, it is likely that India would want to add a spinner to the team. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who didn't get to bat and ball in the match, is likely to make way for Sundar if the team wants to add another spinner in the team. 
Washington Sundar has been a regular member of the team in all three formats of the game. The all-rounder has been making vital contributions for the team with bat and bat and it remains to be seen if he makes it into the XI of the next game or not.
